Is BMac the 6th starter?

Featured Replies

I am going to start the hype right now. After watching this kid pitch, and listening to him talk to Hawk and DJ, I have no doubts that this kid could step into our rotation today.

My question is if someone in the Sox rotation got hurt, would Brandon be the first one called up right now? Has he passed Diaz and Munoz with his outings this spring?

Ozzie thinks so, and I agree with him.

i think he should be also :gosox3:

With his performance so far in the spring and how much ozzie seems to like him, yes I would think he'd be the 6th starter if and when we need him this year. Not a bad guy to have step in if you ask me.

I would say yes! 1st call up!

he is no doubt the first call up

Hawk was interviewing B-Mac during the game and told him Ozzie has said that he would not hesitate and bring up B-Mac if need be. Brandon responded by saying that was his goal coming into ST. It's good to see that he has set his goals high.

Edit: I should read all of your post before responding next time.

My question is, why does Hawk keep referring to BMac as "the 24 year old". Is Hawk nuts or am I the one going nuts thinking he's 21 going on 22 in July?

It's hawk or atleast I think it is, otherwise I'm also going crazy.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see some of the young guys looking good.

Sweeney, Anderson, McCarthy, even Owens - it's got me really looking forward to them getting a chance in the bigs!!

Dare I say......the kids can play.......? :D

No doubt. The fact is this kid knows how to pitch, throws strikes, and lets the other team get themselves out. He showed today he's got the smarts to be successful. Diaz and Munoz may yet be decent. If this was 2004 spring training this kid could come north and make this team. I'm much more confident that the 5th spot would be OK should someone go down with him in AAA

It just really confused me because Hawk even said it right in front of McCarthy during the interview and Brandon didn't correct him. I'm assuming he was just being polite to Hawk. Either way, Brandon looked very impressive, I don't care what his velocity was or will be, he can pitch.

I think that was it palehose. Brandon seems to have a lot of respect for Hawk and dj and just the organization and players in general. He probably didn't want to correct him on the air.

He is so damn skinny though but I don't care if he was as thin as a piece of paper as long as he keeps pitching like he is.

He'll never pitch in the majors if he can't learn to zip up his fly.

How ever did you notice that?

Click on this link, then go to the second link there labeled as

"Chicago White Sox pitcher Brandon McCarthy warms up before facing the Texas Rangers in a Cactus League game at spring..."

The open fly kind of jumps right out at you seeing as how it's centered and you can't even see his face.

Looks like RotoWorld thinks so.....................

Brandon McCarthy yielded just one hit in four scoreless innings against the Rangers today.

Hank Blalock doubled to become the only batter to reach base against McCarthy. With the way Jose Contreras and Orlando Hernandez have looked so far, there's a real chance the White Sox are going to need McCarthy by July, maybe sooner.

I hope he succeeds but then again, I hope he doesn't make it this year because that would mean that our 5 starters are doing well. Never enough pitchers though.

Brandon shouldn't be rushed. The arbitration process will be started early, and we don't want a Zack Grienke or Jeremy Bonderman situation on our hands. Let him dominate at B-Ham or Charlotte for the majority of the year, don't forget he's never pitched higher than AA before, and he was only pitching for the Barons for about a month or 2 including playoffs.

Let him work his way in.

We don't need another rushed pitcher who comes up and loses his confidence due to not being ready for the show.

He needs another year in the minors.

B-Mac leaves his balls on the field. :lolhitting

Exactly. I think KW has put the team in a good situation. This is the 1st year in the last 4 years that there isnt a need for another starter in the rotation, so having Bmac up isnt a need at this point.

I will be beyond pissed if Bmac gets like 3 or 4 starts in AAA, is doing great, then someone goes down, or they just call him up anyway, he gets rocked, then is messed up in the head when he goes back down to AAA.

He is still so young, no need to rush.

There are other options we can use besides B-Mac. Hermanson can be used as a starter, and if Adkins is starting in AAA, he could be given a shot as well.

Or Diaz, Munoz or Cotts.

Don't call up a guy who is not ready.
