Defintely Mike Cameron.

Same build, almost exactly the same tools although Cameron's arm is better.  Same propensity to go fishing for the breaking stuff, and miss.

Speed, power, good instincts in the OF, great athlete.

Does Kannapolis play in a hitter's park? Because 31 2B's and 24 HR's is impressive.

I've not been to that park, but I've seen Chris Young play the last two spring trainings, he is talented. He actually has gotten into quite a few games this spring.

I believe it is..... but he had 21 doubles in short season Bristol and Grat Falls the year before. Thirteen in only 55 games his first year.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will somehow find his way into the Birmingham outfield in 2 weeks. Not holding my breath, but apparently he is still playing with the AA club in ST and hasn't been "sent down" to the Winston club yet. How nice would a Sweeney, Young and Owens OF be to start the year in Bham?

Same low 20's HR power, and tons of speed? Pretty close to a 5 tool guy?

If so, that sounds good to me.

I take it he just has a big learning curve ahead of him. Maybe like a Beltre who took a long time to break through?

He's very raw Mike. I noticed more polish this spring than last spring for sure. He's got a good smooth swing with lots of bat speed and he can mash a fastball no doubt.

Mostly I was impressed with his reads in the OF, Tucson is a tough place to play especially RF and the Sox had him at all three spots if I recall correctly. His speed is explosive and he looks patient at the plate and I believe his walk stats bear that out.

I think he's quite young as well, no pun intended, 21 at most I think. Definitely merits watching. Everett seemed to be taking him under his wing, they were talking all the time.
