It will still be interesting to see where McCarthy lands on the list. His stock has definitely risen.

brian anderson cracks in at 38, and sweeney in surprisingly higher at 31. they seemed real high on sweeney sayin that they "guarantee he will be in the sox OF or close by next year"

There are people who are more impressed with Sweeney than Anderson. Count me as one of them. I think Sweeney has the potential to make a greater impact, he's got a good eye at the plate and his arm is even better than I thought.

 

No knock at all on Anderson but Sweeney and BMac are the top two prospects the White Sox have IMO.

As a fan, I'm far more excited about Sweeney than Anderson. His defense is stellar, he has excellent range, and I absolutely his swing. It's gourgeous.

 

I wonder though. If Podsednik finds a home on the Southside, what are we going to do with the OF. I know we have Dye through next year, Rowand through 2007 (a little help on this one please) and I'm unsure of Podsednik's contract.

 

If you guys could help me out with those OF contracts I'd really appreciate it. If Podsednik can play anywhere close to the level he was playing in his rookie campaign, he's not going anywhere. I have to admit, I love watching him play. He's so exciting and I think his speed is going to lead to a ton of runs at the top of the order.

One of the two probably won't work out, but if both do, I could see Anderson at 1B.

 

Signing Konerko long-term is a bad move, IMO.

 

How is Josh Fields, defensively? If he doesn't work out at 3B, then 1B would have to be his destination. I just can't see us locking down Konerko with the type of potential impact players that we have in our farm system.

yeah it was top 50, and I can see why Bmac wasnt included assuming the list was made a month or so ago. i mean baseball america had both sweeney and anderson ahead of bmac too, so i think its understandable. It also seems to me that sabermetric guys like dayn perry, who rated mccarthy 14 overall, seem to rank mccarthy higher than scouts who arent blown away by mccarthys overall stuff. while mlb.com didnt pick mccarthy in the top 50, he has gotten his name mentioned plenty lately and is gettin alot of national pub. ie gammons perry baseball prospectus crasnick

When I was in Tucson, I got to see Young two times. He seemed very confident at the plate, and to me looked like a major league hitter. After watching him play, I've gone from knowing nothing about him, to anxiously waiting his arrival. He just has to try and be more disiplined, and cut back on the K's.

Addison, we may not see any of them, 9 out of ten don't make it. one year at a time my friend, but I do think your right, Pods is probably not a long term player for us, for many reasons, he is older and will slow down, and many base stealers can get injured because they run and slide so much. Its nice to have these back ups, if not to play later then to trade later.

Defintely Mike Cameron.

 

Same build, almost exactly the same tools although Cameron's arm is better. Same propensity to go fishing for the breaking stuff, and miss.

 

Speed, power, good instincts in the OF, great athlete.
