#1 - Buehrle is a given for me right now. 18 wins, 3.50 or less ERA, 150-170 Ks.

#2 - Looking at him since the trade, Garcia still seems shaky. Pretty average really.

#3 - El Duque is a mystery to me, I haven't seen him pitch this ST.

#4 - Contreras really worries me. I would almost be tempted to move him into the number-five spot.

#5 - I'm feeling more confident with Garland than I was last year, I think he could handle the #4 job.

Garcia is ALOT better than average. His era was higher with us, but he was 10-4 as a member of the Sox. We all know what Hernandez can do when healthy, I wouldn't worry about him too much. I'm with you as far as Contreras goes. I don't know what to expect out of him. I agree with what you said about Buehrle and Garland.

Gotta trust the unbiased opinion of a man with the guy in his avatar. :P ;)

The Brewers are currently trying to sign him to a deal similar to Johan Santana's -- 4 years, $40 million.

hence the phrase, hell will freeze over before that happens.

edited so i can be a nice guy today: however, thanks for the info

The Brewers are trying to work out a long-term contract with Ben Sheets before the end of spring training.

Sheets, who was named Milwaukee's Opening Day starter yesterday, is signed for $6 million for 2005 and doesn't become a free agent until after the 2006 season. His agent met with general manager Doug Melvin yesterday. ''We had a good meeting,'' Melvin said. ''Everything seems to be going OK.''

well, it seems there goes that trade bait

darn, i have a feeling the red sox are gonna need someone like sheets.

We would probably have to give up McCarthy to get Sheets anyways. Afterall, we had to give up Reed AND Olivo for Garcia. Sheets definately wouldn't come cheap.

Mark & Freddy - 2nd best 1-2 ALC

Contreras - 4th best #3 ALC

Hernandez + BMac - Best #4 ALC

Garland - Best #5 ALC

Even with Mays & Lohse having better springs, I still pick the ChiSox 4-5 as the best in the ALC. Contreras is obviously the weakest link but I did see some signs of hope in his last start. The potential is still there for him to be the best #3 in the ALC. If that emerges the ChiSox should win the div.

The pen will tell us whether this team is ready to win in Oct or not. It's definitely going to be better than 04. Of this I have no doubt. But I did see signs this spring where Shingo-Marte could be the best in ALC. Not indiv but combined. Marte looked much better.

Overall I think we're ready to win. Several struggling players picked it up in the last 2 weeks (Crede) so I'm more optimistic now.

Without doing any research, I know who A is, and I believe I know who D is.

Who are the other two?
