Bobby simmons has interest in the bulls.

Bobby Simmons

Los Angeles Clippers

Chicago connection: A fourth-year 6-6 small forward, Simmons was born in Chicago and starred at Simeon High School, where he averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as a senior before playing three years at DePaul. He was drafted No. 42 in 2001 by the Seattle SuperSonics, who instantly traded him to Washington for Predrag Drobnjak.

Catching up: Averaging career highs of 16.8 points and 6.0 rebounds this season, Simmons, 24, is one of the league's best bargains at his salary of $825,000. But all that will change this summer when he becomes a free agent. "It's a good chance that I will be re-signed this summer, and that would be nice because I like it here,'' Simmons said. "Chicago is also a possibility, and that would be nice because you can never beat home cooking and because the Bulls are now a young team turning things around as a winner again and they'll be in the playoffs. But I'll leave this in my agent's hands.''

As it stands he will probally be too much for us. But if he seriously has interest we need to make it happen. He is exactly what we need a big guard that can even play some small forward and knows how to post up.

Like you said, we probably can't afford him. I would love to have him. But we've got to lock up Curry and Chandler.

I love Simmons.  I was going to DePaul when he was there and I got to see him play.  He would be a great pickup for us but we would have to play him as a SG.

Agreed, i am just saying in a pich you can play him at small foward. I really want another shooting guard because i do not have faith in gordon starting. For one his defense blows and he picks up fouls way to quickly to stay on the floor for any amount of time. Also, his stamina is bad even if sleepy does not want to believe so or not. He has said along with skiles that he will be working on that in the off season.

Actually putting him at small foward might be better considering he has pretty bad handles. Not something you want from someone holding the ball so much.

Then we agree that Simmons would be a great pickup. He has been shooting pretty damn well this season as well. I'm sure he could play SG for us.

Simmons would look fantastic, but he'd have to sign for the full exemption and I don't know if the Bulls want to give that to just one player, plus I tend to think Simmons may just get a little more.

On the other hand there are so many other highly thought of players available that the teams iwth cap space may not have any and Simmons and Shareef will have to pretty much go with the mid-level. I know one thing, I'd be giddy with either.

Do the Bulls have the midlevel exception this year?  That might be their only chance, except for a sign and trade deal.

Yes, they have the full mle. Which it would take to get him. But in my opinion anyway a big shooting guard that can guard shooting guards very well is the highest on the bulls list.

Sar will get double the mid level at the very least. He is a number one scoring options on most teams but not on the trail blazers witht he emergence of randolph. He has been coming off the bench off since he got there. Well that is until randolph got injured. But Sar's numbers have been increasing ever since he got the playing time again.

He is good for 20/8/1/1 a game while shooting at a pretty good percentage and knows how to knock down free throws for a big man.
