I've seen too many videos on that day. They celebrate the lives of deceased relatives/friends. Eat their favorite foods, visit their grave, etc.

I had to ask the question, because I always laugh at all the people getting drunk at Hacienda on the 5th of May, pounding Margaritas and Coronas, yet they have no idea why. I find it pretty entertaining.

Respectfully disagree.

My mother was born on 5/5/55

She got a big birthday call this morning.

Not as bad as one of my co-workers yesterday who asked me and I quote, "Did we miss the 'cincademayo" holiday this year?"

I was stunned till I remembered that my accounting firm has about as much ethnic diversity as a KKK rally...

uh oh, the big 5 O. My mom turns 50 in exactly 7 months, I can't wait, haha.

I actually pointed out to my coworkers at the appropriate time that it was 05:05:05 05/05/05.

Because drinking is part of the celebration.

Same reason we celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

If Flag Day included alcohol, we'd celebrate Flag Day like a muthaf***a.

No green included or intended.

Its funny how we can take someone else's ethic holiday, add alcohol, and then everyone celebrates it. :bang
