Great start by Kris Honel but for a 2nd straight time Paulino Reynoso comes and gives up both runs and 2 others as well. 9th inning comeback fell 3 inches short as Reyes Drove a ball 384 feet to Right but Jon Zerigue made a game saving over the shoulder grab. Darren Blakely had 2 hits including an RBI double in the 9th. Chris Young Started the rally by drawing a one out walk. Barons fall 1/2 game behind white hot Jacksonville

BHAM, is Kris's velocity starting to climb or what have you noticed different about him the last 2 outings then what he was doing earlier in the season?

Velocity is up 6-7 MPH and gaining more confidence and would have a couple more wins if not for Reynoso

Thanks for the info as always bham. I already wrote off Kris as a top prospect I really hope I was wrong and it's starting to look like I was.

Hey Bham, I saw where you mentioned he hit 90 on the gun his last outing (the time before this one). Is his starting to consistently throwing the 86-89 MPH range and is that knuckle curve starting to get its bite back?

His strikeout numbers are impressive. His velocity must be decent to be striking out a lot of guys even if his control has been poor.

Kris Honel is coming back, and seriously let's hope he can still make it. There's hope yet, even thought there wasn't much light left in the tunnel about a month ago.

Reynoso has been terrible the last couple of weeks.

Hey Bham, I saw where you mentioned he hit 90 on the gun his last outing (the time before this one).  Is his starting to consistently throwing the 86-89 MPH range and is that knuckle curve starting to get its bite back?

 

 

He was in the 88 Range yesterday all 5 innings yesterday and after the first couple innings got the Knuckle Curve working and it had some serious bite.

It sure looks like he coming back after looking bad in the 2nd inning he got the Strike out of Marlin Williams then a double play from Noochie Varner. Lots of Astro scouts at the game yesterday

Thats awesome. I hope the Sox don't mess with him. I'd just let him ease into things down in Bham and hopefully his confidence continues to grow with each and every start.

How ridiculous is the top 30 going to look after this year if we don't have a rash of trades? With prospects being given time due to no immediate MLB need, and the drafts and return from injury of the likes of Honel and Malone and to a lesser extent Lumsden, it's going to be a top-5 or 10 organization type of top-30...

Ya, I'm loving what the Sox have been doing. There is so much pitching depth and they have tons of OF depth and a few toolsy middle infielders and Josh Fields. But I can't believe just how much pitching depth they have, its just awesome.
