The sox organization is by far the best I've seen when it comes to things like this, absolutely fantastic job.

That is a wonderful story. Those kids went through a lot this year and I am proud to say I am a fan of the White Sox when they go out of their way for the community including Cliff Politte and Chris Widger's trip to Utica this year. Way to go Sox!

This team does so much charity, it's unbelievable. Helping with Utica, building the baseball fields in Mt. Greenwood and now this. This team just continues to impress me.

The kid who was hospitalized after being hit in the head by the line drive was released from the hospital. According to the article, he was visited by Aaron Rowand on June 1.

And they get zero attention in the media for it. That is the criminal part of it all. We can get treated to stories about Franks ego, Ozzie's mouth, attendance, and the ballmall everyday, but the media is eeriely quiet when these same professional athletes make a positive impact in peoples real lives. I make it a point to dig out these stories and post them every chance I get, so that everyone can see the good hearts in these people, and look past things like their batting averages and ERA's.

 

These are honest to god, good people that play for the Sox, and the world deserves to know it.

Last year Aaron and Wills would go visit kids in the hospital often. I wish they would report more on things the guys do on their own time.

Is this Brooks' job? Should he be the one that calls ESPN and Fox and whoever else? Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign and attach local press stories. A couple of stories on "Outside the Lines" and Fox Saturday baseball would do wonders for this team and its image.

I have no doubt that the Sox have someone who sends this stuff to the media. I see the press releases on whitesox.com all of the time when they happen. It is the media who never picks it up. Maybe its just me, but I would rather hear about Carl Everett visiting critically injured kids, than hear about Carl Everett rail against gays.
