June 17, 200520 yr Excellent. Liotti is next... (wonder if they start Brooks in Kanny or Great Falls...) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did Brooks sign, I hadn't seen that anywhere.
June 17, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Did Brooks sign, I hadn't seen that anywhere. Not yet.
June 17, 200520 yr I think it was Randar who mentioned we should see a bunch of signings very shortly, seeing as both Great Falls and Bristol open their seasons in the next few days.

I am doubting we'll see an update on it before the rosters are made public for Bristol/Great Falls or people show up on Kanny/W-S rosters... Brooks and Cortes were reportedly close to signing several days ago...

Yep, both teams open play on the 21st. The Great Falls Tribune mentioned a couple guys, IIRC, including 41st round pick Kris Welker had signed and will be going to Bristol (he's a Missoula, Montana native, IIRC)
June 17, 200520 yr Here is a nice article from the Great Falls Tribune, looks like several guys from the recent draft have signed, including 2B Chris Getz: http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs.../506170337/1006
June 17, 200520 yr Here's an article from a few days ago which mentions Getz and the 10th round pick from the Miami area who'll be assigned to Great Falls: http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs...322/1006/NEWS17

June 17, 200520 yr Israel Chirino, that's the LHP I was referring to. He is due for Great Falls so apparantly has signed. Another interesting article from earlier in the week, catcher Franciso Hernandez will be assigned to Great Falls, and Jason Stumm continues to give it a shot: http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs...324/1006/NEWS17

He was starting to come around at the plate a bit as well. Very interested to see how Brandon Allen has progressed in the offseason, the kid has a world of physical ability but was very raw last year.

June 18, 200520 yr The White Sox site says that RHP Daniel Cortes, the 7th rounder who had the commitment to SD State, has signed with the White Sox. In addition, the son of former White Sox 1B Mike Squires, Steve Squires has also signed. Steve Squires was the 49th round pick.
June 18, 200520 yr QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Cortes is a nice nice sign. Very much so, the Sox brass certainly did their homework. Hopefully Brooks will get done soon, Cunningham as well, and then we can throw some good money at Jordan Danks.
June 18, 200520 yr The Sox have agreed to terms with 21 players selected in last week's amateur draft, including 14 of their first 15 picks. Texas Christian pitcher Lance Broadway, the Sox's first selection, was named a first-team selection by Baseball America. …
June 18, 200520 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) I'm assuming Cunningham is the odd man out, unless it's Brooks.
June 18, 200520 yr This was bandied about on the other thread, so I'm just gonna merge it. I assumed it was Cunningham BTW.
June 18, 200520 yr White Sox Agreed to terms with RHP Lance Broadway, RHP Richard Brooks, 2B Chris Getz, RHP Ryan Rote, OF Aaron Cunningham, RHP Daniel Cortes, LHP Clayton Richard, RHP Joseph Winn, LHP Israel Chirino, RHP Jason Rice, LHP Sheldon Catchot, RHP Derek Rodriguez, 3B Vernon Carter, LHP Alexander Woodson, RHP Tim Sabo, OF Joshua Morgan, LHP Raleigh Evans, RHP Tim Day, OF Marcos Causey, C Kris Welker and RHP Steve Squires.
June 18, 200520 yr QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Can anyone give a little brief scouting reporting on each of these prospects? If you look around in most of draft threads you'll find lots of good stuff, but here's some things off the top of my head; Broadway - B-Mac clone, great curveball, good change Brooks - Rated as a 2nd rounder, was previously drafted by us, RHP. Getz - Michigan 2nd baseman, scrappy guy with good speed. Rote - Good stuff but a little wild IIRC. Cunnigham - Flat out raked in his league, good signing, he's an OF. Cortes - Was committing to San Diego State, RHP. Richard - Former Football QB, bullpen guy, lefty.
June 18, 200520 yr QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Today's paper said we have signed 14 of our top 15 draftees. Who's holding out? Does this lessen the chance we throw a bunch of money at Danks?
June 18, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Does this lessen the chance we throw a bunch of money at Danks? We were not going to anyway, too bad, he would have been a nice get, I guess we took him in case something happened family wise or who knows.
June 18, 200520 yr We were not going to anyway, too bad, he would have been a nice get, I guess we took him in case something happened family wise or who knows. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I doubt that. Im pretty sure the Sox didnt waste a draft pick on someone they had no intentions of trying to lure away from college with a big pay day.. They are gonna offer him some money..
