Which publication is best?

Featured Replies

I am Looking at subscribing to a baseball magazine. Living in Engand the only way to get your hands on one is through an annual subscription. I have a choice of Sports weekly, Baseball America, Baseball Digest, Sporting news and Sports Illustrated. Before I go ahead and order one I would like to get your opinions on which you prefere. Thanks.

Do you only want baseball information, or do you want all sports information?

As I only follow baseball and NASCAR from America, I guess a baseball only magazine would be best. I don't reckon there is such a thing as a baseball/NASCAR hybrid.

I subscribe to Sports Weekly, SportingNews, Sports Illustrated, Baseball Digest and ESPN the magazine.

Get Sportingnews. It is by far the best mag out there for sports.

EDIT: Check that. I like SN the best. Sports Illustrated has very long articles that I sometimes find boring to read. SN has all the shorts tidbits about just about anything. Really, depends on your readin style.

Sports illustrated and the sporting news are a general american sports mag.

The other 2 would probably be better for you, i can't reccomend either since i don't read either though

Then you do not want sports illustrated. It covers all American sports, and some international. You will only get a few baseball articles a week, outside of the website and even that is not that 1 sport specific.

I do not subscribe to the other magazines so I can not really say much about them.

SportingNews is actually really big on Nascar and Baseball. There is also a lot on American Football and some basketball as well, but they tend mainly to focus on Nascar and Baseball. Weird combo, I know.

Sports Weekly.

Thanks guys.

Baseball America is only good if you want to follow minor league or college baseball. I find it interesting, but they don't cover the Majors...at all.

I suggest sports weekly for baseball.

USA Today Sports Weekly is the best for baseball.

Sports Weekly if you want your straight baseball and football fix. However, Bob Nightengale in his rumor section just says the obvious information. Sporting News covers all the sports: Basbeball, Basketball (college and pro,) football (college and pro,) Nascar and hockey. It is by far the best. Not many articles, but they are good, lots of graphics and entertaining.

Baseball America, hands down; if you strictly want baseball. They have a comprehensive major, minor, college and high school database/mound of info to share for a pretty penny.

IMO - get the on-line/paper subscription. If you follow the baseball draft like I do, then you'll really love that option. Get ready to pay a price though.
