Ponson for Nevin

Has Nevin agreed to go to Baltimore?  It is one of the teams on his no trade list. As far as Ponson goes, thank God the White Sox low balled him when he was a free agent. He has a lot of ability, but he make Jose Contreras look like the most consistent pitcher who ever lived. Maybe going to SD will do something for him. He was great in 2003 with Baltimore, and was pretty decent the second half of last season IIRC.

No, not yet.

I wonder if this is a precursor for the Burnett deal for Baltimore now that they free up some cash in this deal I believe....

Not sure about the financial part of this deal, but Nevin is making more money than Ponson this year, so Baltimore actually took on more payroll. I don't see them out of the race for Burnett, simply because of the fact that they need pitching.

That god you guys around here were right when you said that Baltimore was not looking for a 1b..

:rolly

The Nevin deal is probably dead because Baltimore is one of 8 teams SD can't trade him to without his approval and his agent is suggesting it will take more money to get him to leave the West Coast. In 2002 he killed a deal to Cincy for Ken Griffey.

With Nevin I don't think it's about $$. His entire family lives there. To some that's more important.

Steff is right. Nevins family all are in San Diego, and its nice to see someone who makes his family the deciding factor in where he plays.
