Opener moved to ESPN Sunday Night 4/2/06

Featured Replies

The Opener has been moved to Sunday night 4/2/06 for the ESPN opening game. I can't believe ESPN is actually going to give the Sox this pub. Keep this in mind when purchasing ticket plans. But my rep says this may cause some adjustments of the plans.

So then i would assume that it is a night game instead of a day game.

It is and is now on the Indian web site as a 8pm-- EST/ 7pm CST start

Well, that'll give us a much needed two day break.

Seriously though, how cool is that night going to be? Raising the flag and kicking the Indians ass on national TV! It'll be a hell of a party!

:snr

This is great. Now I won't need to take 2 vacation days that week....only 1 for the ring ceremony for game 2.

b****in', that means 5 o'clock Pacific for us Cali Sox Fans! :headbang

:gosox1:

:cheers

Dude, we're playing the Indians. The national media loves the Indians. What would it love more than hyping up the beginning of what many in the media believe will be a wire-to-wire year for the Indians?

BEST TEAM EVER

How dare ESPN disrespect us again! I'm sick of it!

I figured this would happen. I like it.

Sweet...now I can actually go to the Home Opener!!! :notworthy :cheers

Accountants don't exactly get days off very easily during the month of April :crying

Wow, interesting.

Any weather predictions for an April 2nd evening game in Chicago?

BUT ESPN NEVER GIVES US ANY RESPECT, REMEMBER?

Just talked with my ticket rep, regarding the split season plans and opening day. Basically, the plan that already had opening day on it (the "Hit and Run" weekday 27 game plan), will still have that game, even though it was moved to Sunday. Just FYI.

He also told me that they recently decided on some important dates for buying extra tickets:

January 24: Full season ticket holders get first crack at extra tickets for single games (including opening series and Cubs/Sox, and any others), up to some limit (to be determined) per game.

January 25: Split season (27 game) ticket holders then get their crack, if there are any left (which I got the impression there likely would be, given the limits).

January 27: Individual game tickets go on sale to the general public.

For season ticket holders, watch your emails between now and then for more details.

That's great news.

We'll get that game televised, over here.

Now, watch it get rained off..

Or snowed off.

Is there any chance they might move the ring ceremony to that day to get it on ESPN?

Since they barely showed any pre-game or in-break festivities during the world series, I'd think that's unlikely. But you never know. Did they do it last year with Boston?

Did it w/ Boston.

Indeed.

Having never personally experienced it, I didn't realise how cold Chicago can be in early April.

I'm too used to rain..
