Jose Contreras, who is eligible for free agency next year, may have already been offered a contract extension by the White Sox.

It's been reported that Jon Garland turned down a three-year contract. GM Ken Williams indicated that Contreras received a similar offer. "I don't have any desire to break up the rotation that helped us to a championship," Williams said. "That said, both Jose and Jon have been and will be given a chance to stay beyond the 2006 season."

I think so too. He seems like a guy who's loyal to his team and he was very grateful that the White Sox took a chance on him. He sees this as his home. I don't think he likes moving around much.

Haven't heard anything but I'd imagine the first offer was 3/27, unless they lowballed him at 3/24. Just a guess though. I bet 3/33 or so gets it done

I'd love to see Contreras back. Two years. Three years. The talent is there and if he is able to pitch the way he did the second-half of last year, he'll be considered amongst the league's elite in no time.

I swear to God I love you

This would be super huge for the Sox if he reups and pitches like the playoffs/2nd half of last season. I think confidence was the big thing with him. Obviously, the ability was there but Coop and Ozzie helped mold him into what he is now. 8-10 million a year is a steal compared to what pitchers are getting now.

The big thing here is Ozzie. I'm sure it a lot easier to play for a manager that you can talk too! I have a feeling Oz will be the difference in years to come.
