December 16, 200520 yr MIAMI -- Continuing to cut costs, the Marlins traded veteran left-handed reliever Ron Villone to the Yankees for Minor League pitcher Ben Julianelon on Friday. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...e2005&fext=.jsp
December 16, 200520 yr The Yankees will hope that they're getting the Villone of the first half, and not the 2nd half of last year.

December 17, 200520 yr I would have been very happy with the acquisition of Ron Villone. Seeing as how a few of our players already have one foot out the door, I'd be very suprised if the Sox couldn't top this offer without really giving up anything of value to the 2006 roster. That prospect the Marlins got in return is pathetic. If you land Villone, that's one less worry in the bullpen. You'd have people competing for one spot instead of two. Meh.
December 17, 200520 yr The Yankees don't have a good track record lately on pitcher trades. Villone is not the answer to our needs so good to luck to him in NY.
