Manny Lawson, OLB/DE NC State clocked as high as 4.41 in the combine at 6'6 241 pounds, another absolute freak of nature. Combine that with his decent strength and 45 inch vertical and you have a wonderful OLB/DE prospect.

Also, Mario Williams not quite the next Julius Peppers, but probably the closest thing since. 6'7 295 and ran as low as 4.69 in the 40.

If you talk to Scott, he'll tell you Lawson is the second-coming. I don't quite know where he projects to go, but, I now suspect he'll be a late first-round selection.

Just spitballing: if the Packers have the opportunity to draft an AJ Hawk in the first round, and, if by some grace of God, can land Lawson in the second round, they'll be back on top before we know it. That said, they may very well go with Mario Williams.

I heard Davis had a lot of problems actually catching the football at the combine.  Not that it matters much.

I wouldn't call it a lot of problems, he just missed a couple. But in comparison to Pope and Klopestein, he didn't catch the ball as well.

Hey maggsmaggs did you watch the TE catching thing?  If so how did Owen Daniels from Wisconsin look.

I watched, but I was fast-forwarding a lot to see Davis, Pope, Lewis, Day, Klopenstein and Mills, so I missed Daniels. Sorry.

It's all good. I assume from what you said earlier that Pope was awesome?

Pope was great catching and running (4.62 for a 6'8" guy.) His blocking wasn't that great b/c of his lack of lower body strength, but if he is there at 26 (assuming Davis has already been picked) the Bears gotta take him. He is truly going to be a weapon in the passing game, immediately.

I want Pope sooooooooooooo badly. Would be a huge weapon to add to the offense.

Is someone here a Naperville Central guy? I've watched Owen play for 8 years now and I honestly can't believe that he has any shot in the NFL. He's bulked up a decent amount in college, but he still doesn't seem fast enough or big enough to play TE. He couldn't block on the college level so he definately won't be able to block on the pro level, and if he can't do that why not go with a bigger, faster, stronger guy who can make catches over the middle and take a pop.

He wasn’t the only one. No official times were given, but players reported a 40 time that was about .2 to .3 seconds faster than their combine times.

Either the OSU track is unusually fast, the Indianapolis track is unusually slow or it was just a very good day for everyone. Some examples:

oops.
