April 7, 200619 yr Been listening to the Sox on the radio my whole life and prefer it to TV in a lot of ways, but this year has so far been hard to stomach. Farmer/Singleton: Prolly the worst in baseball. John Rooney/Mike Shannon: Easy on the ears and professional. Hope it gets better b/c I like Farmer.
April 7, 200619 yr Welcome to Soxtalk. One thing I will say about Singleton, he has a voice for radio, and makes interesting points. But... He is definately still uncomfortable and not very smooth yet. I think he lacks confidence and it shows. I have a feeling that with time Singleton will be a very good broadcaster, though it might be hard to exit the large shadow of one John Rooney.

I agree with that. Singleton is miles ahead of where DJ was in his "rookie" broadcasting season. I'm not sure if he'll be "very good" or just "OK", but I don't agree with the general attitude here that he "sucks". Rooney's shoes are impossible to fill. Outside of stealing Vin Scully or Milo Hamilton from their respective teams, Sox fans were going to be disappointed with Rooney's replacement.
