Is this turning into another Palmer v. Nicklaus? It would be great for the game. So many contrasts in style, personality, late vs. early success.

Where's Adam Scott? :P :aussie:

Really Mickelson's short game is so much better than Tiger's right now. Tiger's a better ball striker though. Contrasting styles, hopefully we'll see them in many more battles.

Mick's still got a ways to go to be considered a true rival IMO.

When Tiger was focused completely on Golf, and nothing but Golf, Mickelson couldnt stand in the same room with him in terms of competition. Now that Tiger seems to have all these things going on in his life(his fathers declining health first and foremost, he got married, has his foundations, etc.), he isnt winning as much and Mickelson seems to be taking charge. It will be interesting in the next couple years to see what happens.

In majors yes, but Tiger doesn't have the aura he had 5 years ago as well.

Way back when he came joined the tour, at The Milwaukee Open, there was talk that his swing would be difficult to maintain for decades. The power he generates requires a young body. He has made some changes through the years. I guess what I am saying is there may be more reasons than just his focus. But I agree that is probably in there also.

How current are you talking? Because the one that seems like it'll really start affecting Tiger, is his father for obvious reasons. Things are not looking good for his father, and that's going to be very rough on him, being that his father's his best friend.

However, the marriage and foundations don't seem to be hurting him at all. Tiger won 2 majors last year (Masters and British), giving him a total of 7 wins in 2005. He's already won 3 tournaments this year, and was much in the hunt for the Masters, if he could have putted on Sunday.

Tiger's just still in another league compared to anyone else.

PTI was talking about how Mickelson had changed his gear to darker clothes, longer hair, a bit of a shadow on his face, so as to "challenge" Tiger and come off as if he's "ready" for a duel of sorts. Heh. It was funny.

Tiger still has no rival....

tiger is still tiger and golf is still golf, woods no contest

phil has a long way to go to make this a rivalry

Winning two majors in a row doesn't have him close?
