April 15, 200620 yr Is anyone else still bothered by the pan-left camera angle that started in the middle of the 2005 season? IIRC, one Japanese advertiser wanted his billboad behind home plate fully shown, and Brooks Boyer bent over for him at the expense of us fans. This un-centered view is visually handicapping and distracts me from the game.

April 15, 200620 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) Isnt the camera always un-centered towards left field? Yes it is..but every angle at each park is different. The only time the camera was directly in CF was a few seasons back when ESPN tried it. Everyone complained about that camera too, IIRC.

I really dont see a difference in what we have now as opposed to the angle before. I remember when ESPN tried the straight shot centerfield angle, now that really made the umps look bad.
April 15, 200620 yr I used to get annoyed by the angle, but I haven't noticed it lately. I remember last year ESPN tinted their cameras yellow so a Chevy advertisement would show up better. Now that was annoying.
April 15, 200620 yr It doesn't bother me. It's a little further off center, but not distracting for me.
April 15, 200620 yr QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) It doesn't bother me. It's a little further off center, but not distracting for me. That's the key. It's further off center. It skews the viewpoint of the viewer when "calling balls and strikes" as compared to the 'normal' view.

It adds a few more "Where the f*** was THAT????"s to my viewing experience, but overall I'm not too bothered by it. b****ing about umpires is half the fun, anyway...
