April 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Well they do have the new owner and GM now, so I'm waiting to see what happens with that. They were able to get a decent MLB pitcher in Arroyo for sorry ass K king Wily Mo Pena, so that was a good start. And the thing is, they hired a guy from the Twins organization as their GM, so he knows how to win without a huge payroll. It's going to take time. They may have the worst farm system in baseball right now.
April 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:27 AM) In the Trib today they said that the Sox have officially sold more tickets already for 2006, than the 2.34 million they sold in all of 2005. 2.75-2.85 million maybe? Methinks they need to renovate again to add more seats.
April 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) I guess it suprised me because the Wednesday day game had 26,000+. At least the Monday night total was explainable because of half-price tickets. It's just funny that 5,000 more people decided to skip work on Wednesday rather than go Tuesday night and go to work the next day. That happened alot last year as well...which I thought was odd because last year they still had the half price upper deck seats...for some reason Tuesdays are a tougher sell than Wednesdays.
April 20, 200619 yr If the rain holds off, tomorrow should be a big draw for walk ups. It's Friday night, Twins v Sox, Johan v. Mark. But as of right now, you can still get a lot of good OF seats.
April 20, 200619 yr I have to admit, I never, ever thought I would see White Sox attendance translate into more payroll, but, Reinsdorf and company forced me to eat a bit of crow this season. Especially after a world championship, I thought the White Sox had every intention on cutting a bit of payroll. I was wrong. $100M payroll? May be a lot nearer that we ever thought.

In fact it is over $100 million at $102 mil. With the cash the Sox have received in various deals they are paying out about $95 million of their own money, but the gross payroll is indeed the 4th highest in all of baseball at $102 million for 2006.

That's all that matters. The rest is just a first-class job by Kenny Williams.
April 20, 200619 yr I was planning an extensive road trip to Dallas, but the Ranger series was a week that I can't be away from the beach. It looks like a trip to Chicago will be in the cards in late July or early August, then we'll see how good our ticket area is to me.

April 21, 200619 yr Sox deserve large crowds, now if only the north bound Dan Ryan would ever not be under construction
April 21, 200619 yr thank god my family was smart and locked up all our games from June on just to get to a game early on we bought tickets to saturdays game. After calling the park and having them tell us the game was sold out, we went online and had to settle for seats in section 557. Last year I could get seats a couple days before a saturday and be near the front row of the upperdeck behind homeplate ahh the beautiful price of a world series

April 21, 200619 yr Hopefully heading out to the Cell tomorrow for my second game of the year. We have tickets for 4 more, but I'm hoping to spend most of my money that I make this summer on Sox games and go to double digit games.
