I believe that in certain situations, Ozzie's words or actions will affect the team, whether it be positive or negative. But in this case, I don't think the team's performance will change in any way because Ozzie called a journalist a ***. If he would have been suspended for it, maybe the team would be affected, but in this case, I don't think so. That's just my 2 cents.

The only way something like this would affect a team in a negative manner is if this controversy was about one of the players. Since this is about a f***** columnist that is universally despised by the whole organization it has the effect of rallying the team around Ozzie. The boys close ranks around their manager and play that much harder for him.

i was wondering with all his actions with him as a manager- the magglio incident, the thomas incident, the marrioti incident- if this was affecting the team

they are playing great now and i hope it continues

Only if Mike Piazza were on the team.

The only people who know that this isn't really a big deal are Sox fans and Sox employees/players/management, etc.

However, I've been supporting Ozzie this whole time and while what he did was wrong, it doesn't deserve this much attention. It's a shame that Ozzie is taking all the attention away from the best team in baseball. That's right, the best team. They just won 9 games in a row. They hit 3 grand slams in 3 games. Not just 3 grand slams, but 3 MEANINGFUL grand slams. The bullpen has been great. Contreras broke an ALL-TIME White Sox record with his 16th straight win. Joe Crede is still hitting over .300 and it's almost July. Bobby Jenks has made himself into one of the premiere closers in the game. The Cell is sold out and rockin night after night.

What do we have to hear about instead? Ozzie said a bad word. Ozzie said a word referring to the biggest creep in sports, not to Chad and his boyfriend Trevor in Wrigleyville. It's the 21st century, folks. Not many of us have a problem with gays. And the people who say "but I have gay friends" are the ones who do. lol...ok not really. I just always find that comment funny.

ANYWAYS, it's part of life. Ozzie never meant to offend anyone except Jay Mariotti. But now I'm just beating a dead horse.

Bottom line, I support Ozzie, but don't take the spotlight away from the team.

Tribune columnist yesterday mentioned that this whole Affair is being blown up for no real reason, and that the Media was more offended than any Gay groups were. ESPNs Morgan & Miller spent the better part of the 3rd and 4th inning talking about this "controversy", but Miller ALSO summed it all up by saying that the Media seems to have made this a bigger deal than it really was.

I said this last Tuesday and Wednesday.

This does one thing for the Sox... It turns this into Us against the World. The Sox thrive off of that.

I think this is right. We have been killin the last two weeks like nobody's business.

Maybe it's some weird psychological play by Ozzie, who knows? I just hope he tones it down, though. KW does NOT sound like he's effin around about this sort of thing.
