7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles

Featured Replies

In the situation he came in, it would have been fine if he only allowed the 2 inherited runners. Now, we have ourselves a tight game. I really would like to know why Ozzie is so set on having his starters begin an inning that he likely has no intention of keeping them in for the whole inning?

I don't have a problem with him giving up the two inherited runs, but let's face it, it was a big fat pitch to Tejada and now he walks Conine. He is not coming up with the dominant performances that this board seems to think he automatically will in the starting rotation. And he deserves criticism as much as anyone else, unless people are playing favorites.

Which never happens on this board, right?

Come on! Stop blaming this on Ozzie. BMAC is overrated by a lot of people on this site! There goes trade value!

The blames goes to Garland/McCarthy/Ozzie this inning.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:56 PM)
please, no posts about bmac being a better starter than he is a reliever

But it's true, no? He certainly isn't in the one and done mold of a relief pitcher.

Ozzie has the slowest trigger in the west.

By the time he decides its a good time to pull someone, its out of hand.

LOL, this team just can't hold a lead, can it? Hahahahaha.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:57 PM)
Why, it makes a lot of sense? He's a finesse pitcher, and it's very hard to have a good feel for your pitches coming right out of the bullpen. If we weren't going to start him this year, he should have been in AAA making a lot of starts.

So when he was pitching good in relief, I didn't hear you saying this. You were just raving how good BMAC is, but when he is terrible, oh because he needs to have a good feel for his pitches.

Come on! BMAC is a good pitcher, but no way he is great.

Nothing like throwing two fastballs past a hitter, and then speeding up his bat. I really hope KW knows what he's doing by putting this much faith in McCarthy.

But it's true, no? He certainly isn't in the one and done mold of a relief pitcher.

This I agree with, he is miscast as a relief pitcher. And it remains to be seen how great he will be as a starter. I have extremely high hopes for him though. As a starter, next year.

I've said from day one I don't want him in the bullpen. This was even more evident after he said he doesn't like the feel he gets on his pitches when he's out there. All I know is that his 92 mph fastball down the plate is meat right now.

jon has/recovering from the flu, barely makes it out of the 5th unscathed, and oz brings him back out for the 6th in 110 degree heat. he gives up the dreaded leadoff walk, oz still sticks with him. he gives up the double, finally oz decides it might be time to pull him. mccarthy comes in with 0 out and men on 2nd and 3rd...spiffty situation to walk into. had bmac started the inning i guarantee he wouldn't have allowed 4 runs. oz f***ed up.

Maybe teams will back off about insisting on B Mac

Knowing you too well Fathom. You just have to have Ozzie in every blame!

Come on-get out of this and turn it over

Yes, he should have never allowed Garland to start this inning. I don't know anyone who thought Garland should have started this inning.

Big out here

Bmac just making this game interesting and giving Jenks a chance for a save... yeah yeah that's it.

he should be blamed here! wow... to say he is free from blame is ridiculous

Like he is on the market.

Looking like he should be, he doesn't fit this role, he's a starter with a lot of value, and we have 5 consistantly available starters. BMac hasn't done anything huge worth noting for us in this role. I understand the idea of holding onto him for the future, but I think we've seen that this team wants/needs to win right now.

Looks like good ole' Judy showed up today. Ah, how I missed her.

Another runner steals on us. Everyone plays smartball when they play the sox, because none of our pitchers can hold anyone on.

At some point hopefully the pen gets up.

BMAC f***ed up!

These fastballs are extremely hittable, especially a pull hitter like Millar.

It's hard to be "great" when you are stuck in middle relief.

jon has/recovering from the flu, barely makes it out of the 5th unscathed, and oz brings him back out for the 6th in 110 degree heat. he gives up the dreaded leadoff walk, oz still sticks with him. he gives up the double, finally oz decides it might be time to pull him. mccarthy comes in with 0 out and men on 2nd and 3rd...spiffty situation to walk into. had bmac started the inning i guarantee he wouldn't have allowed 4 runs. oz f***ed up.

Well he's a reliever, he better get used to coming into bad situations. He's the long man. But I feel he is miscast in that role. He belongs in AAA, starting.
