Not the results we were all hoping for, but overall not too damaging. The biggest loss is time and games. Sox need a big September to get into the postseason. If they deserve it, they'll be there. If not, the reign ends, no excuses.
August 28, 200619 yr Hmmm, they're in the same spot for the WC as before and actually made up 2 1/2 games on the division. Not bad, not great but at least they hung in there. Hopefully, they take care of business with TB and KC with the Twins and Tigers facing NY this week.
August 28, 200619 yr I think the most interesting part of this is the Tigers story line... Is this the collapse that everyone was waiting for? Verlander seems to be getting hit much harder lately... Polanco being out has really seemed to put a kink in their line up... Maggs has been really quiet, especially for a guy making $15 million a year to pound the ball... Kenny Rogers has been really hot, he might be the only thing holding them into first place right now...
August 28, 200619 yr From here on out, it's a 32 game season. Every one of these remaining 32 games is going to be big.
August 28, 200619 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) I think the most interesting part of this is the Tigers story line... Is this the collapse that everyone was waiting for? Maggs has been really quiet, especially for a guy making $15 million a year to pound the ball... Kenny Rogers has been really hot, he might be the only thing holding them into first place right now... It seems to be. Unfortunately, we've played almost as badly. I remember people saying earlier in the year that they're fine with the Sox having a rough stretch then instead of in August/September. The thing is that having a skid then didn't prevent us from doing it again later in the year.
August 29, 200619 yr That was the toughest stretch of the season. 13-11 is not horrible, I wish it could have been better, but just to think we didn't lose any ground in the wild card hunt and we gained 2.5 games in the central provides some hope as we head down the final stretch of the season. These games vs Tampa and KC are going to be pivital! They must take care of business vs these teams! Anything less than 5-1 would be unnacceptable.
