September 17, 200619 yr http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...sp&c_id=mlb CHICAGO -- A tearful Derrek Lee said he will not play for the rest of the season with the Chicago Cubs so he can be with his 3-year-old daughter, Jada, who has lost vision in one eye. "We've had a family emergency," Lee said Sunday before the Cubs' game against the Cincinnati Reds. "I want to start off by saying it has to do with our daughter." Lee then paused to regain his composure. "Until we get it cleared up, I won't be with the team," Lee said. "My daughter's lost some vision in one eye. Until we find out more -- right now we have to go through some more tests. "We just ask for everyone's prayers," Lee said. "We need a miracle. We need your prayers. We need everyone to believe she's going to be OK." -- What a tragedy, even if he does play for the Northside rivals. Here's to hoping that she's alright and regains her vision.
September 17, 200619 yr That's horrible news. I really hope her eye receives a miracle, or that at least she can keep and learn to have vision in one eye. What a tough year for him.
September 17, 200619 yr Sad news to hear. D. Lee's a really likable guy, so I'm hoping for the best for him and his family.
September 17, 200619 yr So sad. Who cares what uniform he wears. You never want to hear this stuff. Prayer go out to him and his family.
September 18, 200619 yr Prayers go out to D. Lee, his family, and especially the little one. Its just tough as nails to read this; to imagine what Derrek is currently going through cannot be depicted.
September 18, 200619 yr Horrible news. So damn sad. There's nothing worse than a child suffering. Prayers for her and Derrek's entire family.
September 18, 200619 yr Hopefully a miricle does happen. This is far more important than a couple of weeks of baseball.
