It was surely frustrating, but at least we stayed in the race up until the last week and a half of the season.

Indeed. They gave us something to root for (unlike Cleveland).

Detroit threw the door WIDE OPEN for anyone to come in and the Sox couldn't capitalize. It's tough to swallow that .500 ball since August 1st would've locked up a playoff spot. But there could be a silver lining in all this if the Sox can use this depressing turn of events into the fuel to compete next year.

I think it's funny that Cleveland's fans would throw the whole "choke" thing back at Ozzie. They were out of the race on May 1st.

The millions and millions of dollars they make (the 4th in all of baseball, I think) should probably be enough fuel for them. I think it's reasonable to expect them to play hard because they're being paid to do so, rather than the fact that they choked away a season.

And Ozzie had that coming. He really, really did.

the Tigers added an old pitcher in Rogers, and most importantly a major league manager.

The Tigers added a lot more than just that. They also added Justin Verlander, Todd Jones and Joel Zumaya.

They also didn't have Chris Shelton, Placido Polanco and Curtis Granderson for the first half of the season last year.

Or Magglio Ordonez.

The Tigers and Twins won it? gimme a phawking break. How in the world does a team with such talent crap out a sub .500 second half of the season, by over 10 games ( 30-40, I think). This falls on the GM, manager, and coaching staff. If people are burned out that's what the farm system is for. Cheeses phawking cripes, New York lost Matsui, Sheffield, and a couple of their pitchers, for a good part of the year, and Minnesota lost their BEST pitcher. They didn't fold. We had NO SIGNIFICANT injuries to speak of, and yet we could not muster a .500 second half? WHAT THE PHAWK!!!!!!!!!!! Had they just played .500 ball, we would still be in a virtual tie for the wild card. This is horsesh*t, and Sox fans should not stand for it. Problem is, the Sox have no depth. Someone goes down, and it's over. Did Contreras win a game after the All-Star break? Ozzie lost the season, plain and simple. He left to play guys that did not produce for too long. It pains me to say that cause I've been a huge Ozzie supporter, but a team with the caliber of players that we have, to play uninspired, crappy baseball? That's unforgivable. Thome was great the first half, but we clearly saw that he hampered this team with his penchant for the strikeout. Thome and the pitching staff lost the season, period. We need players with guts, gamers. Get rid of Thome, Crede, Buerhle, Cotts, and Contreras, yes Contreras, while their stock is still high. We can construct a championship caliber team for years with what we would get for those players. And Konerko.....shove that "Tip your cap to those guys" horsecrap right up your ass. YOU are the LEADER of this phawking disaster and you need to teach your teammates to play each game as if it's the last game they will ever play. This team showed nothing. You need to get pissed and break some chairs and televisions in that clubhouse, if need be to get the message across. Now get the dead weight out of my blessed city and team and put in players who WANT to play. Goodbye to Cotts, Podsednik, Uribe, Garcia, and Buerhle, and hopefully Thome, Contreras also. Don't phawking come back. See ya next year, boys and girls.

someone forgot their meds today...

I'm frustrated, just like any Sox fan, but I can put that World Series DVD in the player tonight and they can't take that away from me.

At least I don't have to go sleepless for the next three weeks watching those 9:30 p.m. games.

Meh, I'll root for the Cardinals to win the World Series, that is, assuming the get in the playoffs.

Thats the unbelievable part. Sub .500 the 2nd half. The way they were playing, I said back when, that the SOX wouldnt even make the playoffs :crying

Too bad we gave up the final game by such a lop sided margin to the Indians. I would have hoped for better than a 14-1 butt kicking.

There is always next year though.
