The Ruutu/Smoke/Havlat line has already had three-four good chances even strength. They're getting some good looks, gotta bury one past Hasek though.

Hawks totally outplayed Detroit that period. Shame that they're the ones up 1-0, though...

Outplayed em is right Keith, we just gotta get the next goal in this game.

Brutal turnover by Seabrook leads to Datsyuk magic. Seabrook still has a long, long way to go in this league.

hamilton!!!!

Nice read by Vandy on the turnover, excellent read.

Bondra made that play happen.

Vandermeer looks good tonight. Really, the only defender who's been noticeably bad is Seabrook, other than Wisniewski's one semi gaff on the PP.

I think we're the worst 4 on 4 team in the history of hockey, especially in regulation. We have zero clue how to play man to man. Not a good play there by Kukk at all.

Golden opportunity there for Keith on a great feed from Ruutu. Christ... they've had SO many good scoring opportunities tonight. Gotta bury more than one...

Come on guys, do something on the pp already. Need to net one of these

Ugh. Bad start to the third period. Two PPs, and very few chances, if any at all.

Ruutu had another golden chance, and again Hasek came up with a big save. Yuck...

I kind of have it on the background because of finals studying, but was that Gene Honda I hear as PA Announcer?

We can't buy a goal against Hasek right now, this is ridiculous

Yes, always.

This is amazing. The Hawks have had about three times the scoring chances that Detroit has had. Havlat had a good look on the 2-on-1, and Sharp set up Ruutu perfectly.

And now we're down a man here, and if Deh-twah scores, it could be game.

This game was frustrating as all hell

I obviously know jack about hockey but just watching the Hawks PP vs. the Wings PP was night and day.

The Hawks almost seemed to be on the defensive or at least having to retreat frequently where as the Redwings just sat around waiting for a good look, while the Hawks were never able to clear.

Yeah, we had a real tough time tonight getting the puck into the zone and gaining possession. If they are going to stand you up at the blue line, you are going to have to dump it and get in there. When we did, we never could get control of it.

AND THE HAWKS SCORE...RUUTUUUUUUUUU

Power Play.....as hawk would say, one time

Call the TO right now, Savvy.

Come on, fellas. Redeem your poor PP night with a goal here.

3rd period power plays:

Hawks 0-3

Detroit 1-1

Yeah, that'll prevent you from tying it up.

The PP could be the one thing that stops the Hawks from making it to the playoffs this season.

They really need to get a good handle on it, and quickly, in terms of set-ups, and the different systems defenses use, so you have different looks etc.

Hopefully when Bondra gets into shape, this will help a bit though.

Powerplay chances aside, we outplayed that f***ing team tonight. We had lapses where we coughed up the puck, but we had so many more good scoring opportunities tonight. I really shouldn't be terribly pissed off... the Hawks played one of the best teams in the West to one goal, and for the most part, they had their way with the puck all night.

But it's f***ing Detroit. I'm so sick of that team having their way with us.

BTW -- Havlat wasn't Havlat! tonight. He looked slow. If I were to guess, the injury is still bothering him.

Off to Columbus for me to watch em take on the Blue Jackets.

Hawks looked pretty good tonight except for a few gaffes with turnovers. Hasek was standing on his head as always. I agree Havlat still seem bothered by the ankle a bit.

Outside of the PP, the Hawks looked great in this game. If anybody but Hasek is in goal for Det, the Hawks win this game walking away. The one thing I did notice about their PP was that they could not get the puck into the second level at all tonight. Everything was around the perimeter, and behind the net. They have got to get the puck from long range into medium range if they want to open up the net.

Hawks pwning the BJs right now. 4-0 and still a couple minutes left in the first. Goals for Havlat, Hamilton, Ruutu, and Arkhipov.

Hawks are leading 5 -1 after the 1st...Bondra has 2 assists.

Now after several stupid penelties the Hawks are up 5 - 4....
