So, basically this thread is for me and Heads, but if there are any other hunters on ST, chime in.

 

I'll be heading up to the UP this coming weekend to hang up the stands and scout the area. The Rut should be starting to kick in in about 2 weeks or so. I'm damn excited too.

Nice. They say the Dakota's are the best for Pheasants. Are you using an outfitter or do you know someone with land?

Close enough. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun. I cant wait until the Michigan Rifle Season for Whitetail. The only thing I saw last year was a wolf. It was running right towards me from my left but I didn't know what it was because of a ridge I couldn't see over. Ran at me to within 10 yards until I caught a glimpse of it and then it saw me (or the rifle lol) and took a sharp turn and ran away to my left-front. Pretty exciting.

Can't this be like an aim convo or something.

I shot a sparrow with a bb gun when i was about 12yrs old because my friends called me out on it.Never had a desire to shoot anything since.10 years later still riddled with guilt.

I'll probably do some ferrel hog and dove this year. Deer are just too expensive in Texas.

I leave on Wednesday to hunt the Upper Peninsula. People I've talked to said the deer movement is phenomenal. Can't wait.

Yah. The coolest thing I saw was when all 3 dogs were withing a 10 foot diameter, in a circle, pointing at one bird. The guide told one to get it up and the dog damn near pulled the bird out of the air. One of the other guys in the group got that one, but the next time they did it, I hammered the bird. It was awesome. Plus it was in the mid 70s.

Sounds like a great time. The weather in Michigan is supposed to be in the low to mid 40's for the next week and other hunters I've talked to have had great success and seen lots of deer. Hopefully I nail one next week.

About 15 deer have been seen from my stand since Wednesday. Hopefully the deer stay active next week as well.
