November 17, 200619 yr Andruw Jones-OF- Braves Nov. 17 - 11:51 am et The Chicago Sun-Times says the White Sox have strong interest in Andruw Jones. Even though he's represented by Scott Boras? Boras has said that Andruw has no intention of waiving his no-trade clause and leaving Atlanta. "Andruw has the control and Andruw is going to be an Atlanta Brave for the '07 season, that's clear," the agent said last month. "He'll see how the season plays out and what the team's situation is." November 17, 200619 yr I'm sure Atlanta would want Anderson, McCarthy and a couple pitching prospects for Jones. We are definitley better off with a guy like Crawford for what their going to be asking.
November 17, 200619 yr No thanks. Andruw Jones is incredibly overrated and not worth his contract, the contract he'll get when he's a FA, and the price that it would take to trade for him. Edited November 17, 200619 yr by Felix
November 17, 200619 yr If it costs anything other than McCarthy, I'm game, unless the offer is just insane. Atlanta will want pitching, that I can say with confidence. Problem is of course that Jones got 10-5 rights last season, so he can veto any deal.
November 17, 200619 yr I believe this is one of the few ways in which I wouldn't mind getting rid of BA, but not for some insane package of our young pitchers. I'll let this unfold and see where it goes..
November 17, 200619 yr Put me down for wanting to trade the farm for Andruw Jones. I wouldn't care if it costs McCarthy, BMac, and another mid-level prospect. Andruw Jones is a special player.
November 17, 200619 yr Let's see he's 29 years old (prime age), he'll make $13.5M in 2007, he is a free agent after the '07 season and he's represented by Boras. Yes this seems like a perfect fit. He's a big name player, playing in his prime, entering a contract year and he's represented by the most aggressive agent in sports. He's looking at a massive contract next offseason and there ain't a chance in hell he gets it from the Sox, in other words he'd be a 1 year $13.5M rental that's going to cost you a pretty penny talent wise to acquire.
November 17, 200619 yr QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Put me down for wanting to trade the farm for Andruw Jones. I wouldn't care if it costs McCarthy, BMac, and another mid-level prospect. Andruw Jones is a special player. We've cloned BMac? Well I'll be, trade him twice and keep the 3rd one, I like it!

November 17, 200619 yr If Atlanta is really shopping Andruw around and they want a young talented CF replacement would you consider trading BA or Sweeney for him?? He would be a rent-a-player for 2007... Okay if these recent rumors hold ground..we could have a lineup such as this... Figgins, Crawford, Dye, Thome, Konerko, Jones, Gooch, Crede, Uribe haha thats just unfair! and it just wont happen. it would happen if the Sox aqcuire Santana and Figgins for Garcia and prospects.... Sox acquire Crawford for Santana and Fields Sox acquire Jones for Brian Anderson of Ryan Sweeney haha wow the possibilities KW has with this team this offseason.....

You're not getting Andruw Jones without including a young, cheap starter.
November 17, 200619 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) You're not getting Andruw Jones without including a young, cheap starter. then forget it... we have much more pressing needs. we don't need another power hitter. we need a guy (or 2) who can get on base and steal. we need to fix our bullpen still. so yea..the Andruw Jones rumor is nice, but we just dont need him.
November 17, 200619 yr Years from now Kenny's going to be trying to land Andruw Jones for his canasta team in the retirement home.
November 17, 200619 yr QUOTE(infohawk @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Years from now Kenny's going to be trying to land Andruw Jones, Robbie Alomar, Carl Everett and Ken Griffey Jr. for his canasta team in the retirement home. Fixed.
November 17, 200619 yr No chance in hell of this happening. Plus, Bora$$ has already stated Jones "deserves" a 100 million contract next yr so he's already out of the reality stage of signing. Wish Clint Eastwood could tell Bora$$ what he told Gene Hackman before he blasted his shotgun into his face in Unforgiven: "Deserves has got nothing to do with it." BOOM!

November 17, 200619 yr QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Is Figgins, Crawford, Dye or Jones going to play catcher? With that lineup, who the hell cares?
November 17, 200619 yr Only way I'd want Andruw here is if he comes with a 3-4 year extension. Giving up the level of talent we'd have to is certainly not worth a one year rental.
November 17, 200619 yr QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Fixed. Yes, well done! We probably shouldn't forget Sandy Alomar, Jr., either.
