February 21, 200719 yr I'd say go to the apple website and try some of the troubleshooting tips if you haven't already. I had a friend who's ipod did the same thing and after using some of the suggestions on the site it came back on.

Yeah, step #1 is to hook it up to the laptop...and mine is not reading that the device has been hooked up. How do I reset it??

How do I reset it?? Follow the instruction manual that came with the unit. They differ a little from the couple-generation olde one I still have, but with my older fireware model it basically it involves plugging it into the wall charger and turninhg it on and holding down a button until it reset. Mine did exactly what yours is doing now, about two weeks into owning it. I followed the reset instructions and have not had the issiue reappear in almost three years.
February 21, 200719 yr There was an article about this in the local paper Monday. www.iPodResQ.com www.nycipoddoctor.com www.ipodmods.com These were the sites mentioned if Apple won't help.
February 21, 200719 yr I believe you had to hold down the middle button and the top of the click wheel, it then prompts you to plug it into the wall to reflash the unit.
February 22, 200719 yr if all else fails put the lock on, then off, (hold button - whatever) and then hold it about a foot or two from the ground and drop it flat. make sure the surface that you drop it on is hard. then try and turn it on. if it doesn't work, repeat as necessary. you think i'm joking but i'm not. my iPod died but i revived it for 6 more months till i finally got rid of it. EDIT: note i had to repeat this procedure every few weeks. lol Edited February 22, 200719 yr by Reddy
