LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- One man was killed early Monday morning and another person was injured in an explosion in the Luxor hotel-casino's parking garage.

Police said a backpack exploded while a man was removing it from atop his car a little after 4 a.m. on the second floor of the parking structure behind the Luxor.

The blast killed the man and injured another person, who was taken to a local hospital. Both people were believed to be employees of the hotel-casino, Fox 5 News reported.

Metro police said they were treating the incident as a homicide with an unusual method. They said that there was no threat to customers at the Luxor, and that the victim was the intended target.

The two-story parking structure is blocked off while authorities investigate.

No additional details were immediately released.

hmmm, is the mafia making a Vegas comeback?!?!?

Luxors damage control was working quickly, saying the customers werent at danger. I wonder if that was really the case.

It's such a ridiculous statement to even make. I highly doubt his intent was for it to blow up on him as he was taking it off the roof of his car. Either way...we don't know...

Especially when you think that something like this could be a test run by someone like Al Qaeda...

...or someone else.

I keep thinking we forget the homegrown, American terrorists we already have on this soil.

The impression I got was someone left in on there car and it blew up when the hotel employee was taking it off and they are implying that the employee was the target.

Hmmmm, seems like an isolated deal. Where's Jack Bauer when we need him?

Doesn't really seem like a terror act(or test) to me. Seems more like a single homicide.

In Charlotte, helping Brian Anderson find his swing.
