June 6, 200718 yr A couple of quick notes from the pregame: - Talked to Pods briefly. Heard him say he's about 80 percent and he told me his groins are stubborn. He's playing in left field and leading off. - BA has been playing DH recently because his shoulder is bothering him. - Word was that Floyd threw his best game of the year last night. Key to him being successful is throwing strikes. Stuff is not the problem. - Broadway's on the hill tonight. Hope to have some info on his velocity just to see where he is. - Fields left this morning for Chicago and found out he was getting the call last night, thus the reason he did not play here on Tuesday night. I'll have more as the night moves along.
June 6, 200718 yr Alex, nice report. Let us know how PODS looks and especially how BA looks swing-wise
June 6, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Alex, nice report. Let us know how PODS looks and especially how BA looks swing-wise Will do, just about to get underway, so I'll get a nice look at Pods right off the bat. He's the White Castle "K-Man".
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) Will do, just about to get underway, so I'll get a nice look at Pods right off the bat. He's the White Castle "K-Man". mmm sliders do sound good.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) And Pods K's, I believe that nets everyone in the park a free burger. Was it classic Pods. Strike 3 looking?
June 6, 200718 yr Author Lazy grounder from BA to end the first. First pitch swinging. Looks thrilled to be here.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) Was it classic Pods. Strike 3 looking? dropping on the inside corner?
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) Lazy grounder from BA to end the first. First pitch swinging. Looks thrilled to be here. He's batting 3rd???
June 6, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) He's batting 3rd??? 4th. Broadway not impressive so far. Bases are loaded with 2 outs. Haven't seen him above 86. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) dropping on the inside corner? Swinging. He's facing a lefty, Bobby Livingston, who was briefly with the Mariners last year. Mound visit for Broadway. Broadway walks in a run.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) Broadway not impressive so far. Bases are loaded with 2 outs. Haven't seen him above 86. Broadway walks in a run. That sounds like a recipe for success in the major leagues.
June 6, 200718 yr Author Saw Broadway at 87. Sweeney just K'd in the top of the 2nd. No hits for Charlotte so far. Weak. Broadway hit 88 that inning. Two good plays coming off of the mound. Gets off the mound very well and fields it well. Quick 1,2,3. Pods grounds out, didn't look to be running very well.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) Maybe Lance was nervous in the first with you there. The great and powerful Boz, I would be too. I think we send Alex to all of their games for PBP.
June 6, 200718 yr Author Top 4th right now, runner on 2nd, no outs, Craig Wilson at the dish. 1st and 3rd no outs for BA, let's see what he does. Sac Fly for BA, tied 1-1. End of the inning, broken bat and Sweeney hits into a DP. Average now down to .247 range.
June 7, 200718 yr Author Pods up with runners on 1st and 2nd (2 outs). Bloop single and a RBI, Knights lead 2-1. Knights are now up 7-1.
June 7, 200718 yr Was Sweeney's double hit to right field with authority or not? Also, how has Broadway looked since the 1st?
June 7, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) Was Sweeney's double hit to right field with authority or not? Also, how has Broadway looked since the 1st? Linedrive into the right field corner. Broadway has looked solid, he's impressed me with the way he gets off the mound and fields the ball. His curveball has been pretty solid, but the heat has only topped out at 88 maybe twice. Pods walks, be interesting to see if he tries to run. Edit: Pods leaves the game for a pinch runner.
June 7, 200718 yr Author Knight have the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the 7th after a single by Wilson, walk by BA and single for Sweeney. Kirk Saarloos now in for the Bats.
June 7, 200718 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) Knight have the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the 7th after a single by Wilson, walk by BA and single for Sweeney. Kirk Saarloos now in for the Bats. Only a matter of time before Kirk "Hanging Slider" Saarloos made his way to the minors. Watching his starts against the White Sox were some of the most frustrating events of past seasons.
June 7, 200718 yr Bourgeois has been really good leading off and playing 2B since Gonzalez got called up, and was having a nice year in B-Ham before that. Hopefully he keeps it up the rest of the year, he is at .305/.364/.439/.802 this year with 18 BB and only 22 K's, plus 17 for 20 in steals between AA and AAA (and has been red hot at .360 since the call up). I've watched 3 Broadway starts online and he hasn't got above 90 in any of them. 4-1 with a 3.30 in your first year at AAA isn't bad at all, but 28 k's and 26 walks is bad and those #'s in 60 innings is worse. His 1.22 GO/AO and .246 BAA against isn't too bad though, and neither is 5 HR in 60 innings, but Lance is a #4 or #5 starter at best.
