So it seems like 5 years 80 million is the concensus... Now will people be OK if Mark leaves for more money and years?

I agree with Phil Rogers on this...if he is offered a Zito-type deal...then good luck with aaaallllll that. Thanks for the memories and we'll see you when you come through town. But if they can't sign him for 5/85 (very top end) then no, I won't be pissed.

I agree with you whole heartedly...until the poorer sales at the gate.

I might even add Vazquez as your #4 starter. Buehrle, Garland, Danks and Vazquez is a pretty good rotation.

I can live with Vazquez until his contract expires...and they should let it expire, hopefully to be filled by another promising young arm such as Gio. As far as the gate dipping, you may be correct, but I could se a small contingent being turned off by a loss of Buehrle and not coming out as often. Moreso, the loss of 1/5 of the rotation and 220+ innings will probably take a further toll on performance, which is where I was equating loss in gate sales. Maybe you are correct however. I personally would love to organize as many season ticket holders as possible to cancel their seats if Buerhle is not on the team next year.

I just noticed the typo in the thread title. :chimp

You know what I'm sick of? KW's pissing and moaning about the market and deals and his hardass stance about how this won't be discussed until after the season (question: WHAT season, Kenny?).

You've got a workhorse, lefty, 28 year old pitcher on a team that's supposedly built around pitching and defense. What exactly is the mystery here?

Nobody's saying that Mark should get a Zito contract but the guy has made plenty of overtures about wanting to stay and I'm just tired of KW's pompous and egomaniacal posturing.

I agree with Phil Rogers with this one.

PREDICTION: Buehrle gets traded to the Cardinals where he signs an extension with them worth 6-7 years between 100-115 million

Mark just said on ESPN 1000 that waiting until the end of the season before discussing any sort of extension way a mutual decision, Buehrle had an equal hand in putting this thing off.

My guess was they thought there would be a season. Now that it is over, start the talks now until July 31st then move or sign him.

Why not talk now?
