June 21, 200718 yr He was DFA'd by Billy Beane. I wonder if KW may go after him. He wanted him 4 or 5 years ago very badly.
June 21, 200718 yr I'd wait until the murder charges are officially filed... Seriously, what does a guy with a good bat have to do to get dfa by Oakland?
June 21, 200718 yr Had we actually been in the hunt this year, this would have been a God-send. No use for him this year.
June 21, 200718 yr What is the waiver process at this time? How close do we pick? Very interesting. Didn't the A's get hot without him?
June 21, 200718 yr Link The Oakland Athletics designated outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment Thursday, cutting ties with a player who was expected to play an important role on the team this season. Bradley had been on the disabled list three times this year and was frustrated that the team waited two extra days to activate him this week because of uncertainty about third baseman Eric Chavez's health. Asked Tuesday how he was feeling, Bradley curtly responded, "I'm healthy and on the bench." Bradley was activated from the DL the following day and went 0-for-3 with a walk. The A's have 10 days to trade or release Bradley. Because he has more than three years of major league service time, Bradley can refuse an assignment to the minor leagues. Phone messages left with A's general manager Billy Beane and manager Bob Geren were not immediately returned Thursday. The team was traveling to New York to prepare for a three-game weekend series against the Mets. Bradley, who is in a contract year when players hope to put up some of their best numbers, first was shelved from April 23 to May 10 with a strained left hamstring. He went on the DL a second time May 15-29 when the hamstring flared up again, before being sidelined a third time June 3 with a calf injury.
June 21, 200718 yr We should make a small trade for him. He won't clear waivers. I think a C level prospect (god knows we have those) would get it done. I realize we aren't really in it but we can always turn him around again in a month. Definitely worth a shot given what Owens-Terrero-Rob have given us in the corners
June 21, 200718 yr QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) Had we actually been in the hunt this year, this would have been a God-send. No use for him this year. The intriguing thing is to try and get him to be competitive and if he shows anything try and trade him at the break. Based on the looks of our OF this year and going into next they have to seriously look at anyone that can catch a ball hit in the air and bat .250.

Definitely worth a shot given what Owens-Terrero-Rob have given us in the corners He could be a very valuable chip at the deadline if he can prove over the next month or so that he's healthy and able to perform up to his talent.
June 21, 200718 yr career vs. lefties: .297/.370/.468/.838 overall: .271/.354/.430/.784 28 years old, can play all 3 OF spots I think (at least 2 for sure), we are desperate for OF's.....I don't care if we are out of the race, if we can get A.J. when nobody else wants him and keep him under control, I don't see why Bradley isn't worth a shot.
June 21, 200718 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) He could be a very valuable chip at the deadline if he can prove over the next month or so that he's healthy and able to perform up to his talent. i like that idea
June 21, 200718 yr You are reading around the net that their could be another shoe to drop here. It has to be more than just him whining about being on the bench. Maybe you won't hear much until the ten days are up but there is certainly much more going on. THey knew he was a pain in the ass and he actually has produced a bit this year despite being in the trainer's roon
June 23, 200718 yr Author Oakland traded him to KC. KC must be serious about wanting to finish in 4th place.
