August 5, 200718 yr Thank God he didn't do it off of Maddux. What a shame that this guy now stands alongside Hank Aaron.
August 5, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:46 AM) Thank God he didn't do it off of Maddux. What a shame that this guy now stands alongside Hank Aaron. Steroids or not, he's the greatest hitter of my lifetime. I'm not a big historical guy, but this is still very neat to see. And I still love his homerun 'trot'. Everybody else was wondering whether he got enough of it, he knew it the whole way.
August 5, 200718 yr Hah. Classic Bud Selig face there -- jaw open, mouth agape. Absolutely histerical... Edited August 5, 200718 yr by CWSGuy406

August 5, 200718 yr If Hensley is in the game and challenges Bonds again, he will break the record tonight.
August 5, 200718 yr QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) If Hensley is in the game and challenges Bonds again, he will break the record tonight. I hope that is the case

August 5, 200718 yr I don't think Bonds is the greatest hitter of his time. He's a cheater and an awful man, as well, terrible to fans and at least one woman who loved him, per Book of Shadows. Edited August 5, 200718 yr by Gregory Pratt
August 5, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) I don't think Bonds is the greatest hitter of his time. Hes not just the greatest hitter of his time, hes the greatest hitter of all time..
August 5, 200718 yr Well, ESPN should be ashamed of themselves, as they didn't break into the X-Games telecast to show the AB or a highlight. And Mr. Pratt....Bonds is the greatest hitter of his time, and it's not even close. So many players were on steroids, and he still dominated.

August 5, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) Well, ESPN should be ashamed of themselves, as they didn't break into the X-Games telecast to show the AB or a highlight. The game is LIVE on ESPN2... I watched it. Also you can argue about if he was the greatest hitter of his time or of all time, but please please stop with the "even if" he was on 'roids nonsense. People who deny that Bonds took steroids need to hang out with the Flat Earth people. Edited August 5, 200718 yr by Linnwood

And Mr. Pratt....Bonds is the greatest hitter of his time, and it's not even close. So many players were on steroids, and he still dominated. A bunch were on steroids. Few as blatantly and defiantly as Bonds, but no -- Bonds isn't a greater hitter than Ruth, Gehrig, Williams, DiMaggio, Mays...you know why? He may be better -- and even that is dubious, in my opinion -- but he isn't greater. You can't be great being a cheat.

"So many players" does not mean all of them. He may have been the best natural hitter, but we'll never know.
