Bears Sign Olsen

Bears Sign Olsen

Geeze, talk about getting things done. Now we just have our second rounder to go. Looks like this will be yet another year where the Bears are done before some teams/orgs even start.

The addition of Olsen should not only bolster the offense, but it should provide more confidence and a nice safety outlet for Grossman (which should in turn help Grossman turn into a more effecient and productive QB).

I for one am looking forward to his first rap album.

Damn that is solid news. I like the way the Bears went about signing their picks this year.

Signing a Ro$enhaus 1st round pick to a 5 yr deal this early is great news.

Olsen signed, time to talk with Rosenhaus about Briggs next.

Good job. I really like Olsen. Bears have been very proactive in getting all but 1 2007 under contract before camp.I expect the 2nd round pick to be signed very soon. :cheers

Bears have to the 15th to negotiate a long term deal with Briggs, otherwise he is essentially forced to sign the 1 year deal (well I guess it is actually briggs that has till the 15th of this month).

I actually think the 15th is on a Sunday so they technically will get one extra day.

Yes....I read where Rosenhaus has came to the Bears and proposed some different options about the Briggs situation. I still want Briggs back and would love for the two sides to work out a "fair" deal.

Say what you want about him, but he is one of the best OLB's in the league and has always played his butt off every season in Chicago.

I disagree, he's good, but Urlacher and this D made him what he is today.

he's overrated. Urlacher makes him better than he is. He looked like crap in the superbowl. Bears should've traded him to Washington when they had the chance.

To me its hard to evaluate Briggs. We have all seen what has happened to the OLBs that have left Urlachers side in the past. Briggs isnt over rated really IMO, but he is definitely a system player. He wont be "the man" anywhere else if he is getting targeted. He is very lucky to have Tommie Harris drawing double teams and most offenses scheming mostly for Urlacher. He deserves more money, but if he leaves the Bears he will be exposed, especially if he went somewhere like Washington.

Angelo has some flaws, but I really like his work as a GM. Especially the way he and the org. handle the salary cap. They get very creative so they don't end up burdened by old players who they can't cut without taking a huge cap hit.

I think the one thing he has hanging out there is the Cedric Benson/Thomas Jones decision. That will be interesting to see how that plays out.

The Bears will ending up regretting that deal. Or, at the very least, they will miss TJ a lot.

I think Benson will have a better season than TJ, and it probably won't even be close. I love TJ, but Benson is better.

There would be no way that the Bears would part with TJ unless they felt that Benson could handle the workload. Also, it would be a complete waste of a #4 pick to keep Benson as a #2 back.
