Im still amazed that he can say stuff like "Jeter aint all the way black" and nobody calls him on it.

I guess these comments would carry some weight if they weren't...you know...coming from Gary Sheffield.

If I could post a picture of a pile of feces and label it "Gary Sheffield", I would.

Maybe the Yankees treat good people differently than jackass', Gary.

I love how he also admits that he used the "clear" and the "cream" but didn't know it was steroids. LOL.

ok sheff, time to go away.

You can only be racist if you're white. Don't you know that?

Black kids don't play baseball because they don't have role models in the game. You're making a hell of a good argument for your case Gary.

Not only that, but it's not a popular sport in urban areas. I only played until high school and that's because most of my friends that played quit due to the coach not making it a fun experience anymore.

i just heard a clip on the radio this morning where he blames all his problems on women. Then andre kramer asked if he takes any responsibility and he responds "well i picked 'em"

This guy should really not ever talk in public again

You've got to give him that one though.. :lolhitting

I appreciate Sheffield for speaking his mind.

Don't appreciate ignorance. The sooner Sheffield's out of the game of baseball, the better. Maybe he can take his bff, Joe Morgan, with him.

In a related note, anybody see what Morrissey said in the Trib today about Jesse Jackson comments.

That's racist!!!

First I wish Nuke was around to blast Jesse. Second, I largely agree with Morrissey (which I guess is better that agreeing with Mariotti). Third, my bladder can not hold enough urine to allow me to adequate express myself on Jesse's grave when he is gone.

I am guessing this was meant to be green, in which case, well played.

If it was serious, then... see Fathom's post.

It wasn't meant to be green. He says some very stupid things, and I think he's an idiot based on everything he's ever said, but he says what he wants to say and he doesn't let anyone censor him. I appreciate that he doesn't let anyone shut him up -- not the PC crowd, not management, not people who simply disagree with him or the people who think he's an idiot. He speaks his mind without fear. He's straightforward, and for that I say God bless Gary Sheffield. More people should be like Gary Sheffield. Except smarter.

So you like the idea of a world full of insulting, ignorant assholes? Because god bless 'em, they speak their minds?

There is a difference between not allowing yourself to be censored by the PC crowd in some noble way, and just being an asshole. Sheffield is just an asshole.

I don't begrudge him his right to be an idiot, and I don't begrudge him the right to say what he feels like saying. I say God bless him because often, people say something controversial, everyone goes nuts ("How dare he!" "He owes us an apology!" "Poop mouth...!") and then the person says, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have said what I thought because it bothers you." Sheffield doesn't play that, homie. I just wish he were smarter, and had something worth saying, but the fact that he says what he thinks and feels without fear is admirable in its own way. I just wish he were smarter!

I will say this, also.

I'm being sarcastic

I'm all for free speech, but I'm also very much into "having a clue what the f*** you're talking about," and Sheffield doesn't fit that, IMO. I do appreciate people who have something worth saying, even if it's unpopular who speak out a ton -- Ozzie, in baseball, is one; Truman, in history, is another -- but no, Sheffield hardly qualifies, and I'm just teasing.

As the great Terry Boers once said, there are no parameters for stupidity.

Sheff is an idiot. You just have to ignore what he says. I can't say I mind having him on my team, though.
