Had him on the phone on ESPN, said Pads are close to acquiring Mackowiak for a minor leaguer but did not say it was official or announced already.

Perhaps one of the pitchers SD acquired in the Linebrink deal?

Hopefully the Pads will decline his '08 option and the Sox can bring him back via free agency, I love the way Mackowiak plays.

I would hate to see him go personally...i wouldn't be terribly upset with Mack starting in one of the corner OF spots next year.
