Reda was better than both of them, but Illinois cleaned up in the awards so I can't complain. And would somebody like to explain to me why MIKE HART (consensus Big 10 2nd team) is a Doak Walker award finalist over consensus Big 10 offensive player of the year Rashard Mendenhall, who unlike Hart stayed healthy for his team all season and generally had a better season? Talk about pathetic.

Reputation. also, Leman outplayed Laurinitis in their head-to-head matchup and I believe lead the Big 10 in tackles for something like 18 weeks and he still wasn't a finalist for the Butkus award. Big time program + reputation + love from the media = National awards.

Which is exactly why Mario Manningham will win the Biletnikoff award over Michael Crabtree. Crabtree was the first freshmen in the awards 14 year history to be a finalist. Jordy Nelson of KSU is the other finalist.

It's been a while since I've seen two guys like Crabtree and Nelson.

Lol, did anyone see this?

What a joke of a system. Of course as an Illini fan I love this, but what a terrible idea. "What's that? We don't have the teams we want in the BCS? No problem, lets just expand the system so that we can choose who we want." 18 teams for 10 spots - ridiculous.

I spoke to a friend of mine yesterday who was on the field at the end of the game. He is a blond guy in Stanford red at about the 10 or 15 yard line when Moen has the ball and is running through the band. You can't really tell it's him, of course.

He said that whenever Stanford wins the Axe, the athletic department changes the score of the game to 20-19 Stanford and Cal has to change it back when they win it.

Fun times, indeed!

They're doing because they have too from what I understand. If they only choose from the top 14, there may not be ten total eligible from that top 14, which is why they might have to expand it to 18.

They can only use 18 if there aren't enough eligible teams out of the 14. They can only take 2 teams per conference and since the Big Ten and Big East both don't have 2 teams in the top 14 and it's likely the ACC won't by the end of the year so they might need to expand the field if Hawaii/Boise aren't in the top 12.

In eight conference games, Wells was the Big Ten's leading rusher with 1,122 yards. Rashard Mendenhall of Illinois was second with 1,015. For the season, though, Mendenhall gained 1,526 to Wells' 1,463. Not surprisingly, they were named All-Big Ten backs.

But it was Wells' final performance that got everyone's attention. He ran for more than an eighth of a mile against the Wolverines, scoring both touchdowns, the second on a 62-yard carry that broke their backs.

Wells appeared at the Ohio State Alumni Association banquet last night in Cleveland wearing a brace on his left hand. Turns out, he's played much of this year with a broken bone in the hand. Only, he just found out about it on Monday.

''I'm not sure when I broke it,'' he said. ''It's been bothering me for awhile. They just finally x-rayed it (Monday).''

Did it all with a broken hand and a bad ankle. Pretty ballsy.

Maybe in Iowa it was. I heard it live before the snap, easily.

Maybe the sound doesn't match up here, because the whistle, on our TV, sounded a split second after the snap.
