Ozzie=ball Goes Flat

Yea, I saw this earlier this morning. Actually, it's a good article. For all the stupid things Ozzie does, the man wants to win. I don't think anyone can take that way from him. I also think that he was more or less toying with Mr. Passan, but that's neither here nor there. The quote about the Kentucky Derby was a classic, though, and it's so true.

The mood around the team Sunday was status quo. A.J. Pierzynski complained about having to autograph for Kids Day at U.S. Cellular Field.

Come-on AJ, you're better than that. :angry:

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me... I'll just leave it at that.

I imagine that almost all of them complain about that after a night game and having to get out on the field earlier. I doubt it was some, "f***ing kids!!1111111111111" type of diatribe.

They don't get out there any earlier. It's after their regular scheduled BP. It's the visiting team that gets screwed because their BP is cut short to accomidate.

And too f***ing bad. It's 15 minutes of their day, and it's not like they do anything other than sign anyway.

I think the players hate doing a team golf thing like a couple weeks ago a lot more than they do singing for kids. Don't make excuses for A.J. here by saying a lot of players feel that way, I tend to agree with the "this quote doesn't surprise me" group. And as for Ozzie.....lol, as delusional as usual.

Oh, Kid's Day wasn't Sunday? Well, I still bet that most players hate Kid's Day and complain about it.

Even if it WAS it still doesn't require them to be there any earlier. And respectfully I would bet against you on that one.

Why would players hate doing something like that? From what I have read, many players on the Sox are avid golfers in the offseason

It's their choice to do things like Field of Greens and considering Jon and Jenks were the only 2 active "big" name players there - and had a great time from what I saw & heard - if the others don't want to do something, they don't.

Paul is a friggin' 4 hcp!!!

And they don't appear to hate it from every event I've been at.

Same here. I don't think most hate it. When my kids were little. I stood in line with them and chatted with a few players. They seemed to genuinely enjoy it. A. J. is A. J., it doesn't bother me or surprise me. I'm sure that there have been a few guys through the years who didn't exactly like it, but like someone said, it's just a short part of the day and as for those guys....that's just the way some guys are. Not everyone is kid or fan friendly.

I defer to your opinion and admit myself mistaken.

Nothing to be mistaken about. It's just something I think would come across if they didn't like it. If you get a chance hover around as most of them sign. They really do seem to get a kick out of the kids faces when they light up at seeing them. IMHO, AJ is not the norm on this one at all.

A couple of years ago they were complaining and this board supported them because they were winning. IIRC Ozzie said the starting battery didn't have to sign that day. Its total BS on the player's part. If signing a few autographs for kids is really that bothersome, maybe they should get a regular job with a regular paycheck.

I don't think that's true... but maybe I don't remember right.
