July 2, 200322 yr Who bats where? The best I can come up with is... 2B; Roberto Alomar SS; Jose Valentin 1B; Frank Thomas RF; Magglio Ordonez CF; Carl Everett LF; Carlos Lee DH; Brian Daubach 3B; Joe Crede C; Miguel Olivo/Sandy Alomar, Jr. Any other suggestions? Swapping Manos and Alomar would be the only other thing I can see happening... But this is JM.
July 2, 200322 yr Alomar Everett Thomas Magglio Daubach Carlos Jose Crede Olivo Rowand and Harris play a fair amount.
July 2, 200322 yr R Alomar Valentin Thomas Ordonez Lee Everett Crede Rowand (DH) S Alomar MAN ARE WE EVER STACKED ON PAPER!!!
July 2, 200322 yr Alomar Everett Thomas Magglio Daubach Carlos Jose Crede Olivo Rowand and Harris play a fair amount. I liike this one better Alomar Valentin Frank Ordonez Everett Lee Daubach Crede Olivo
July 2, 200322 yr Author R Alomar Valentin Thomas Ordonez Lee Everett Crede Rowand (DH) S Alomar MAN ARE WE EVER STACKED ON PAPER!!! Your designated hitter is batting .200?

July 2, 200322 yr One thing that we CANNOT do is deny Rowand playing time! He must be in there at least 1 game a week in order to keep up shape, if we want a good backup if we ever need it.
July 2, 200322 yr IS rowand? I thought Rowand was a pretty good CF, or at least a very hard working one.
July 2, 200322 yr I just am not a big Jose fan at the top of the order because his obp is low, although Everett in the 5 hole makes a lot of sense and even what ESPN had with Thomas in the 2 and Everett in the 3 hole made sense. What may make the most is Carlos in the 2 hole with Everett in the 5 hole and then go with Daubach behind him then Crede and Jose and then the catchers. But this would be a drastic change. I like Carlos more then Jose as well in the 2 hole.

Now, in the 6-spot his protection is Crede, Rowand, and Olivo... No s*** you don't pitch to a guy who's hit 25 homers every year for the last 3 years or so when you're next three hitters have a combined like .230 average.

That's an idea to ponder about Carlos hitting in the 2-hole. He responded well when asked to hit higher in the lineup last year, so I think he could very well take on the task.
July 2, 200322 yr I'm not sure but I'm guessing it's going to be one of the two: Alomar Everett Thomas Maggs Daubach Lee Jose Crede Olivo/Alomar The other one that might happen is just switching everett and frank
July 2, 200322 yr One thing i dont think anyone has mentioned. These two deals allow the sox to have a killer bench on offense.

July 2, 200322 yr I still want Willie Harris to play 3 or 4 games a week. He is not a batting title contender - and will never be - but his speed causes a lot of problems. If only he could hit .280 - man, we could have an offense to die for.

They HAVE to have one of the 3 or 4 deepest offenses in baseball.
July 2, 200322 yr I know he's struggling once in a while, but now you can AFFORD to have a guy finding his way in your lineup. I like Daubach a LOT, but I would play him twice a week at DH, and have Everett DH the other 5 games - with Harris in CF 5 days a week. His speed is scary. If he would only learn to swing DOWN on the ball and forget about home runs, he would give us an element in the offense I haven't seen since One Dog roamed CF. I miss One Dog.
July 2, 200322 yr With Jiminez and Rois gone, as per rumor, this really is a workable, flexible bench. Pretty damn impressive if you stop and think about each position and who can play where.
July 2, 200322 yr 2B - Alomar (S) - That's what i love in his hitting... SS - Jose (S) 1B - Frank ® RF - Maggs ® CF - Carl (S) LF - Carlos ® DH - Daubach (L) 3B - Crede ® C - Olivo/Alomar ® That is a great lineup!!! . Agst Lefties we put PK in there in the place of Daubach.
