RME JICO
Here are the Type A and B White Sox players as listed by Elias: Type A Konerko 87.778 Thome 87.059 Dye 80.253 Pierzynski 78.151 Vazquez 75.099 Jenks 82.008 Type B Uribe 61.905 Crede 61.143 Garland 71.329 Buehrle 61.111 Thornton 63.910 Hunter is a Type A. There are some real interesting valuations: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al...-complete_N.htm I assume agents and teams would use some of these valuations as leverage in negotiations. Kalapse
Crede was barely a type B player despite having a career year in 2006. I stand by my original assessment: Joe Crede will not bring back any compensation when he walks at the end of '08.
bigruss
Maybe this is dumb of me, but are these values the ones for declaring a player to be a type A free agent or is it just a ranking.
RME JICO
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) Does defense play a role in any of the rankings? I just find it odd that Daivd Ortiz can get a perfect 100 ranking.... As far as I know, yes, but I think it is based on opportunities. Kalapse
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Can I ask why Buehrle's value is so low? The grades are based on the last 2 seasons and Buehrle was terrible in 2006.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) Possible future White Sox: Torii Hunter: A Aaron Rowand: A Barry Bonds: A Mike Cameron: B Jose Guillen: B Andruw Jones: B Luis Castillo: B Omar Vizquel: B David Eckstein: B Scott Linebrink A Giving up draft picks for any of those guys would be terrible. In Bonds case you wont' give up a draft pick because the Giants won't offer Bonds arbitration. But geeze, if the Sox sign Hunter or Rowand & Eckstein the club will have little draft picks. Not only will those two signings help cripple the franchises future, but they will also cripple the system with a loss of early picks. scenario
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) Does defense play a role in any of the rankings? I just find it odd that Daivd Ortiz can get a perfect 100 ranking.... That's a great point. Try and find A-Rod on the list. He gets dinged for poor defense, but Ortiz doesn't because all he had to do was hit. What a screwed up system.
