bigruss
Baseball America: Chicago White Sox (33) Righthanders: Ryan Bukvich, Jason Childers, Josh Fields, Vladimir Nunez, Jake Robbins, Eduardo Sierra, Geurys Trinidad, John Wesley Lefthanders: Tim Bittner, Nikolas Lubisich, Corwin Malone, Paulino Reynoso, Joe Torres, Ryan Wing Catchers: Jeremy Frost, Wiki Gonzalez, Ryan Smith First basemen: Casey Rogowski, Earl Snyder Second baseman: Jason Bourgeois Shortstops: Victor Mercedes, Kenny Perez, Tomas Perez, Luis Sierra Outfielders: Cory Aldridge, Shawn Garrett, Archie Gilbert, Kenny Kelly, Alex Sanchez, Adam Shabala, Sean Smith, Craig Wilson, Ernie Young So we had another Josh Fields? Im surprised they didnt accidently call up the wrong one. So who should be resigned? I say maybe Malone, Reynoso, for bullpen insurances. WIng should be resigned since he had a tremendous year for himself, and Bourgeois should be able to compete for a roster spot. Im surprised he wasnt called up, even if his stats prior to the last season were mediocre we couldve found out if he had a future with the team then. Thoughts? BearSox
Wing and Bourgeois should both be kept.
scenario
My votes... Ryan Wing Casey Rogowski Jason Bourgeois Archie Gilbert I think Gilbert has the potential to be another Bourgeois or possibly even better. No sense in cutting him loose yet. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/G/A...e-Gilbert.shtml
max power
QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) I believe there were 3 josh fields in the organization this past season. So if one goes down we'll still be ok. Nice.
29andPoplar
Lots of ex White Sox prospects on the minor league free agent list. Anthony Webster, who was traded in one of the Carl Everett deals, is a FA from Texas. Jeff Bajenaru from the Diamondbacks, Gustavo Molina from the Orioles, Felix Diaz from the Red Sox, Andres Torres from Detroit, Joe Borchard from the Marlins, Danny Sandoval from the Phillies. Also Cliff Politte and Vic Darensbourg. Edited November 4, 2007 by 29andPoplar

NorthSideSox72
Bukvich is already gone. Bourgeois, Wing and Garrett should be the priorities to be kept, IMO.
southsider2k5
Wow, all of those trades of major leaguers for our minor leaguers are looking pretty decent right now, except for the young deal.
29andPoplar
Wow, all of those trades of major leaguers for our minor leaguers are looking pretty decent right now, except for the young deal. That's true. Stepping back and looking at it, there's good and bad. The good side is, it's almost always a very good idea to trade a prospect for a major leaguer who can contribute, which is what most of those guys were dealt for. Similarly it's a good idea to trade a prospect you may have soured on (within the organization) to another team that still feels they'll make the big leagues. The downside is when the prospect you trade blossoms, obviously. The other downside is what the White Sox face. When you don't have enough impact prospects, not only does it limit your trade options, it also limits filling holes on your team and often causes you to do things you don't want to, personnel wise. There was a comment by the minor league guy recently who said it's their goal to give Williams a list of 6 guys every year that can be used in trades, and another list of guys who they should keep and not trade. The bad PR comes in when you trade a prospect that blossoms elsewhere. What is just as bad in my opinion are the things fans don't hear, and that's the guys you decided to NOT trade who never make it. The list of those regrets is likely quite long - for every team in MLB. But we will never know.
