The really lucky thing was they missed the King, Bedard, Saunders and Lincecum. Finish it strong.

I'd like them to start Thome at first and rest Konerko for the series.

Gross. Rest PK, but Thome cannot play first anymore. If they win the first 2 games, then fine I guess, but otherwise Swisher should be at first with Anderson in center. I don't care for Anderson hitting, but in that park, he is valuable.

Hawk is turning into Ron Santo

LMAO!!!

I really, really cannot stand Hawk anymore. This month's Maxim has a list of the 10 worst sportscasters of all time and I half expected to see him on it.

Put Stoney in the booth. Please.

Anyway... nice win! :headbang

After saying earlier in the week that slugger Jim Thome would start one of the interleague games in San Francisco at first base, Guillen and his coaching staff have changed their minds.

''Right now, I'm not going to play him,'' Guillen said. ''Last year we did, and then he lost a couple of games because he was sore. He lost a couple of games because playing in the field was tough.

''I talked to him, and hopefully we'll get him one at-bat here and there. Maybe if things go a certain way, I will change my mind, but right now I don't want to use him.''

Geez, you play a couple of games at first base and you're too sore to play the next one?

Yikes.

it's funny though how a guy that physical state is STILL a little faster than PK

Yes, I think that really blows that Thome cannot start one game at 1B without a deleterious consequence. It would have made a lot sense to start him when they face RHP this weekend. If there is some silver lining, it is that Anderson will get some more playing time and Thome will not be sore following this road trip.

Hawk I really don't mind...when he's by himself or Stoney's in the booth with him, he's fine...but BJ on the otherhand...he's like a little friggin parrot over there and tries to be "Hawk Jr" and it's more embarrassing than anything. The Sox seriously need to separate those 2. I LOVE MLB Extra Innings and get to have the other team's announcers a great deal of the time.
