Umpire hit by pitch

Intentional as can be

I would say most certainly.

Don't let Ozzie see this. I don't want him getting any ideas.

I really doubt that.

So then, what do you think happened there?

it's the catcher ducking at a 6 foot high pitch that gives it away....

I think the catcher lost it for a split second and panicked. The reason why I dont think its intentional is the reaction of the catcher as the ball squirts away and the runner moves from second to third.

If you are going to intentionally hit an umpire and let a ball get past you, you know that you are going to have to get ready to get it and try and throw out the runner.

Also odd time to do it when there is a runner on 2nd.

I think the catcher got crossed up on the signs and freaked.

I'll have to find it but the story i saw was that both the pitcher and the catcher were b****ing to the ump about his calls and it was at the end of a blowout game they were losing so the guy on second didn't mean anything.

found it.......CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A high school baseball pitcher and catcher are under investigation for possibly conspiring to hit an umpire with a pitch.

See Video Of The Incident At The End Of This Story

Video of the incident during the game last weekend shows Stephens County catcher Matt Hill ducking at the last second and the pitch striking umpire Jeff Scott in the face mask. Scott was uninjured.

The pitch from Cody Martin came during the third and deciding game in the state championship between Stephens County and Cartersville, won 13-1 by Cartersville.

One witness said Stephens players were upset several of their teammates had been called out on strikes by Scott.

State athletic officials are investigating and said Tuesday they will have a ruling within a few days.

The Stephens County principal has apologized for the incident.

Nope.It was just a weird situation.

intentional. the team was down big and was pissed. read it on the rivals baseball area.

I caught some and when you lose sight of the ball, you dont go to your knees and put your glove on the ground as if its in the dirt. You leave yourself wide open to get nailed. Usually you curl up and keep the glove up for protection and hope for the best.

Dodgers drafted him yesterday. MLB umps beware.

LOL, anyone who thinks that wasn't intentional is a joke

It was as intentional as can be, what a bunch of assholes.
