The difference a week can make!

First off, I've been a long time visitor to the site, but I finally decided to sign up and become a member. I've always enjoyed reading the discussions on Soxtalk, so I figured it was time to get involved.

But back to the topic at hand. On June 2nd, the Sox were ranked 22nd in the league in runs scored and had just a half game lead over the Minnesota Twins. Now, just seven days later, the Sox have jumped up to 10th in the league in runs scored and now hold a 5.5 game lead(maybe 6.5 in a couple of hours). For me this illustrates how explosive this offense can be when a majority of the lineup gets it together. That's the kind of offense that I've been waiting to see from this team all season long. Let's hope the bats stay hot for an extended period of time now!

Welcome! It is sure a lot of fun when the team hits on all cylinders isn't it? :gosoxretro: :headbang

Welcome! And it was a damn good post. :gosox3:

Welcome aboard. Great post and this past week has definitely been a lot of fun.

Welcome aboard! :gosox1:

All of these runs are starting to make me optimistic. Hawk and DJ are right. If this team hits like it should along with the great pitching, the Sox will be a steamroller. Then the team will get a swagger and play some extra games in October.

Hell, just hitting on half the cylinders works well. It is when they are running one 2 out of 9 that just cannot happen. It was a fun week spanking the Twinkies.

Do you guys think we will need to add anyone to get through the rest of the season to keep this up? Who or at what position...Rumor is that Erik Bedard MIGHT be available from Seattle, but not sure if this is true...I would sell the farm for that guy...

I wouldnt go that far...the knock on EB is that he isnt smart with his pitches and by the 5th-6th innings always has an elevated pitch count...matter of fact, Buck Martinez was talking about this today on XM Baseball this AM

:o

Bedard has been insanely inconsistent this season, and starting pitching is the LAST thing this team needs. Who's spot would he even take?

I think that would reopen the "where would he play?" debate again. Seriously though, who in this rotation deserves to be pushed to the bullpen? Danks, Contreras, and Floyd have been dominant, and Vazquez has been solid. The one person who isn't pitching well overall is Buehrle, but you won't, or should you, see Buehrle sent to the bullpen. I don't think the Sox will be after a starting pitcher, unless it's a guy who has C.C. Sabathia type stuff (how about a healthy Ben Sheets). Of course Sabathia wouldn't be an option for the Sox because Cleveland will never trade him in the division.

The offense is hitting like crazy right now, but adding another bat, maybe one with speed, would be a good idea. But in my opinion, this team can win right now, as constructed.

first off, welcome.

and in this vein of "what a difference..." go over to espn.com and look at their FRONT page. whoa.

I haven't been this excited about this team since opening day of 2006.

OM God.

Kenny and Ozzie rode out the storm with Swish and now he's producing.

Who would have thunk that a week ago Swish would have his act together.

Those of you who remained Swish fans deserve credit.

Can you imagine if he keeps playing like this??

He was bad for so long, what if he's good for as long??

What a sweep for the Sox!

do you think we will 'win' VH1's best week ever?
