June 9, 200817 yr I'll admit I was giving Swisher a hard time. I even compared him to Jeff Liefer. But deep, deep down inside I knew he wouldn't blow ass all season.
June 9, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) Here's a fourth exciting thing: Vinny Del Negro = new Bulls coach wait, no that still makes 3.
June 9, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) So are we now officially going with the incorrectly worded Farmer/Rooney phrase for winner threads now? Is this a no jinx thing? Yes. (shhh)
June 9, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) Hell yeah!!!! bring on the tigers! Speaking of which, I've never got why we don't start those chants when we play the Tiggers at home.
June 9, 200817 yr QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Yes. (shhh) there's no such things as f***ing jinxes
June 9, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) there's no such things as f***ing jinxes Oh, silence.
June 9, 200817 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Looking at our upcoming schedule, we have a chance to go on a serious roll. We've got a terrible Tigers team and the crap that is the NL (save the *barf* Cubs) all this month. The Cubs don't scare me one bit. Outside of Zambrano, who we have hit before, their rotation isn't scary at all and they've benefited from playing s*** teams like Pittsburgh, Houston, Colorado, etc a trillion times.

Their second best starter is Ryan Dempster, even with his hot start probably wont finish with an ERA below 4. I wonder if the Twins would trade us Joe Nathan.....

Not to mention Lee is struggling. I think we can easily take 4/6 from the Scrubs, maybe even 5/6 or 6/6.
June 9, 200817 yr I think some of you are under-rating the Cubs. Without our weak division we would be hovering around .500 so calling them out for playing weak teams isn't fair. That being said I do think we have a better ball club and even though he has had early season success its hard to be scared of Dempster.
June 9, 200817 yr It's hard to be scared of anyone in their rotation outside of Zambrano. That's what's so hard to understand. Their 2-5 on paper and going by past history sucks. But the NL is so bad that it hasn't mattered...yet.
June 9, 200817 yr a 7-0 homestand! Wow, when was the last time that happened? Swish the 1st Sox to hit HRs from both sides in a game since Jose Valentin? We are in great position with crappy teams coming up. Let's keep it up and bury all the teams in the division!!!

We're 17-17 on the road, they are 14-16. And the NL is worse than the AL anyway. Have you seen a Pirates game recently? Rockies? They are pathetic.
June 9, 200817 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) I wonder if the Twins would trade us Joe Nathan..... If you want to deal with that contract, by all means.

Check out some of the pitchers the NL teams run out day after day and get back to me.

Have you seen a Pirates game recently? Rockies? They are pathetic. Well everyone seemed to love the Diamondbacks before and I know the Cubs beat them in a series and hell the Pirates just did also.
June 9, 200817 yr I still like the D-backs. They're struggling right now. But I still fully expect them to be there come October. And good luck to any NL team having to go up against Webb, Haren, and a healthy Randy Johnson, especially in a short series.
June 9, 200817 yr Nice come-from-behind win. I kinda gave up on the game after the back-to-back Ks of Konerko and Thome with the bags loaded. I had stuff to do anyway but just the same I gave up on the game and got myself into the "oh well, we're still in 1st place with a nice lead" kinda thinking. What a nice surprise to see that they won this thing. Way to go, Swish! And nice for Walnuts to make up for his costly at the time caught looking K.
June 9, 200817 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) If you want to deal with that contract, by all means. For probably the best closer in baseball, yes.
June 9, 200817 yr of course I didnt play swish on my fantasy team today, but I did play Danks and Q.....
June 10, 200817 yr Just got back from work to discover this news. When I went back to work from lunch Sox were trailing 5-4 but with the way the team has been playing I figured we'd find a way to com back and win it. 6.5 games! Wow! Don't let up boys!
