I know a lot of people hated his work, but I enjoyed Billy Packer. My only complaint is that he doesn't work any other games besides the Big Ten Tourney and the NCAA tourney, and for people that watch their team religiously, it's annoying to hear him rant/rave about a scrub player and/or not give enough credit to other kids that play well without recognition. But he reminds me a lot of Ozzie - he's not going to sugar coat things.

Clark Kellog is going to replace him. Gus Johnson should have been dubbed as his replacement and Kellogg should have stayed in the studio, IMO.

Woohoo!!!

Billy Packer is truly an asshole. He has got into some spats with Boers and Bernstein a couple times, and mind you I realize they can be jerks most of the time but he was so unprofessional it was unbelievable.

And if Gus Johnson was to be added, he'd have to replace Jim Nance since Gus is a pbp guy.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I also like Billy Packer as an analyst. I've heard him on the radio, and agree that he's a jerk, but I do like him calling games.

I feel the same way about Tim McCarver. It's popular to dislike him, as well, but I like hearing him during the playoffs and World Series. I get that he points out the obvious, but I think that he does that because the audience for national games is a lot less hardcore, so some of the finer points of the game that most fans are familiar with need to be spelled out for casual fans.

I'll miss Billy. Not as much as I miss Al McGuire, but I will miss him calling the big game. I wish they'd replace the Luther Vandross version of "One Shining Moment" with the original while they're at it. The original was much better. I highly recommend "you-tubing" "One Shining Moment." I think all of the versions from the past 20 years are available.

Best news I've heard in a while.

Thank god! As a Tarheel fan he was a well known anti-Carolina guy. He comes from the era (while at Wake Forest) of the non Carolina acc guys belonging to the abc club (anybody but carolina). He sucked in general, but I hated him when covering a UNC game. I do like Clark Kellogg and think he will be a massive upgrade from Packer.

Needs more Raftery. Him, Lundquist and Gus Johnson are the tournament to me.
