The CHOKE of 2008

Featured Replies

Express your thoughts here. This team obviously doesn't belong in the playoffs. I don't care about all the umpiring calls, even if they weren't good calls. We still could not perform on the field.

no excuse blowing a 6-1,none.

Choke comes out tomorrow. Movie about the 2008 season, just in time too.

Too early for this thread...there will be plenty of time to talk about this in 3 days. As of now, we're still theoretically tied.

It's nothing but a choke. Has it ever been anymore obvious?

They had a f***ing 6-1 lead in the fourth and couldn't put Minnesota away.

Forget corpseball, this is pussyball. I am honestly insulting the manlihood of these players, and if there were ever a time to do so it's now. If I were married to one of these guys I'd be ashamed. It's a game of baseball and they're playing scared.

f***ing embarrassing.

That is what blows my mind about this - they had a 6-1 lead and the team chokes it away to the freaking Twinkies. I am so sick of them. No matter what happens to that team, there is someone in the minors they plug in that some how works out every freaking time.

The worst part is, the Twins, before the series, were playing as bad as the Royals or Pirates. SMH. It looks like Orlando and Griffey came to play. Swisher really didn't have a shot. Jenks needs to be traded because this whole control bulls*** isn't for him. He's worthless without his 101mph heater.

What a pathetic series. These guy's hit .250 against everyone else (Gomez, Casilla) but we can't get them out. This team is filled with losers who never thought they were going to win that game.

athletes(use that term loosely for a couple players) that play baseball, not BASEBALL players.

Yeah but what are the chances that the Sox can capitalize and win while the Twins lose. We had so many opportunities to put some distance between us and the twins these past couple of weeks but we played like crap just like today. We just had to let it go to the wire.

You, sir, are retarded.

Yeah, they fold in Minnesota in the biggest game of the series and I'm supposed to believe they're going to win the final game against Detroit? I doubt it.

Does it sound right that after sweeping us they'll just lay down to KC?

I honestly can't believe this is happening right now.

This is the absolute f***ing truth. Bobby hasn't been Bobby since 2006. That man is gone.

No, but think on the bright side...the Royals offense is leaps and bounds better than the White Sox right now. Maybe Olivo will light up their lefty pitchers? And heck, their late inning relief is better than ours.

I would love to have KW trade him for a huge package (I know, sounds gay) and let Thornton become the closer.

Hmm so this is what it feels like to be a Cubs fan.

I'm going to be the Royals biggest fan this weekend.

You can't? This was extremely predictable.

LOL! This reminds me of Shingo Takatsu. Whose the guy to step up from the shadows now and replace bobby.

I mean we led the division for over 90% of the season, and there were times when a playoff birth seemed like a lock. Now it's poof.

Didn't we know all along that we'd have to be over 3 games up coming into this series?

New to being a Sox fan? 2005 was a total aberration, this team ALWAYS chokes when things get tight in September. Even that team spent about 6 weeks gagging away all but 1.5 game of a 15 game lead before finding themselves and completing a run to glory.

KW needs to call for a press conference. No seriously I want to hear it. I want him to explain why this team failed. Sure our expectations going into the season were low, looking at Detroit, but this division was ours and now we gave it up. I want to know what happened to this team.

The saddest part of the whole ordeal is the Twins almost beat themselves. Without the collision in CF and the errant throw by Slowey this game is over long before extras.

The Sox once again failed to resemble a baseball team with even the slightest clue. In this series Ozzie has gone from making me scratch my head to making me clench my fists. Taking Uribe out to bat f***ing Swisher? No Anderson so Griffey can face a lefty? No changes whatsoever to the lineup? Not even the slightest attempt to engineer a lineup more capable of winning against the Twins in the dome?

I'm sick to death of this all-or-nothing style of play. The entire 40-man roster is eligible to play so at least try something else, even if it is for no other reason then to send a message to your lethargic sluggers. For as much as Ozzie loves to dick around with his lineups and talk up fundamental baseball, he sure doesn't seem to put his money where his mouth is when it counts. I'd much rather lose knowing we tried something different than sit there watching this team go through the motions once again.

And one last thing: enough with the broadcasters complaining about bloop hits and bad umpiring. At some point you're expected to make pitches, play defense, and hit the f***ing ball.
