He's garbage. A typical White Sox farmhand.

Hey, if the 'typical WhiteSox farmhand' dominated at AA and AAA and got selected for the Olympic Team and the Futures Game, we'd all be very happy.

Why is it that people think when a rookie player comes up that they either have to dominate everyone right away or they suck?

I knew Scenario, the minor league guru, was going to chime in. lol. C'mon now. The goal for any farm system is to produce MAJOR LEAGUE talent. I'm not saying Richard will never be a decent or even good pitcher ( I doubt it). But from the nearly 50 innings I've seen from him so far, he's possum s***.

Scenario, that's the thing, I don't think every rookie that comes up has to dominate. But here's my question: when was the last time a WHITE SOX prospect came up and produced right away? I think I was in the 7th grade the last time that happened.

So... today against the team that won the AL East and was second in the major leagues in wins... in a playoff game...

Was he possum s*** today?

What an outing by Clayton, in the post-season no less. He had 5 K's in the first 1 2/3 innings that he pitched. Sick

Imagine if he had started the game.

He also failed to get the first batter he faced out leading to the 6th run being scored. He did good after that. He has had many bad outings this year and a few good ones

I think you're setting your expectations pretty high.

There are a few players each year who step up and perform great as first year players.

Some of them come a team's farm system and some don't... (Quentin and Alexei) for example.

Be thankful when it does happen, but don't expect it.

It's MUCH more likely that players need a little time to adjust to the league before they become solid MLB players.

If you go through and look at a list of MLB all-stars and HOF players, most required a period of adjustment. In fact many of them really struggled when they first came into the league.

scenario, you just love minor leaguers. lol. And that's good. Your who's posts I look for when I want info on our system.

:D

Thanks.

I love the WhiteSox. I love minor league baseball. And I love to argue.

I guess that pretty much defines me.

Lets be honest folks. Clayton gets by on deception, being a LHP and having some sink. He will be a good arm pen, and already is. As a starter? Probably not.

This thread is a joke. Is this the same Richard that sports an era of over 6? He had a couple of nice innings in a game that we were trailing by 3 before eventually remembering he's Clayton Richard and loading the bases before being taken out. If he starts the game we still lose.

Thanks to Jordan4life for shedding some sanity on the situation. I think he's right. Who knows what Clayton would have done starting? He mighta been wild. I will say at the point of the game he was in, he looked good against their lefties. I think Jordan4Life's post is valid, though. We sort of had to start Javy unless we did the 3 day's rest thing again with Mark. I would think at some point that 3 day rest thing would really start to blow up in our faces.
