If i were to write up a petition and send it in to K Dubs to sign my favorite Rhode Islander, sorry paulie, would anyone sign it? OR would i have to go Chicago style and forge a bunch of dead peoples signatures?

Hes only twenty seven and hed be pretty low risk, unless something has changed in his contract/free agent status i think hed be a good option to see how spring training goes and maybe get a shot in center and perhaps bat second.

How can one honestly call an athlete with mitochondrial disorder a "low risk?"

I have no idea what any of this means. All I know is we don't need to add another OF, we need to be subtracting Of's to fill another hole.

Ha sorry arbitrary friday night lights quote. I agree but if/when griffeys long gone id rather have him in center than swish or bander. Hed be relatively cheap and bring some speed to the lineup, thats it.

Edit: I thought hed be low risk because he did show he could play this year and with his history i cant see him being very expensive or having the right to ask for a lot of years thats why . Sure theres risk involved but not that high imo.

He can play only 3 times a week max and rarely will go 9 innings.

I don't think this team needs another outfielder that is a defensive liability.

Would I be out of place to deem this an epic fail?

Before this year where he saw limited action he always had a very good range factor. He led the league in 2004 for cf. Why cant he overcome this mitochondrial stuff and do it again?

Because he cannot replace his mitochondria. He is going to have issues with stamina for the rest of his life.

The best he'll ever be is on the weak side of a platoon, and a damn good story.

I want no parts of Rocco Baldelli. His disorder makes him unreliable.

He can only play once every 3 days...No thanks

If he was brought in as a 4th OF I would be opposed to it. Would be a nice bat off the bench, Id have no problem with him and Brian Anderson as bench players or if Anderson is gone than Cook maybe.

I don't think people are ever going to learn that this guy has about 1 year left in baseball, if that.

Hasnt he spent a good part of the last 3 years on the DL as it is? I mean, the idea of this thread is to throw money at a guy who has blown out his arm already and now has a mitochondrial disorder that tires him out.

I agree Steve, Baldelli is going to be one of those "what could have been" players after he retires in a year

Because it's a serious health issue.

Seemingly incurable, in fact.

terrible idea to get baldelli of course, but I love that damn guy. I've been hopin for three years we would get him, but I'm glad we didn't. Find a Cure for Mitochondria!

Um, you might want to rephrase that. Basically you just said the equivalent of "Find a cure for arms" or "Find a cure for blood".
