Madison did it before our YMCA closed, and both mom and baby loved it. I wish we could go it with Alexis.

She did ISR or swim lessons? They are not the same thing.

Yeah, stratch that... I didn't realize they meant alone! No she did the lessons with Ang. Wow.

I did those with Bri in March then taught her how to float, blow bubbles, wear a life vest, etc at home. I couldn't do this even if I knew how. It's going to be hard.

I wish more parents would be certain their children can swim and more importantly, are comfortable enough to not panic in the water. I've heard of a program that sounds just like this, but can't say it is the exact same one. But basically teaching kids to swim at 6 months. You are intelligent enough to know what makes sense and what is crazy radical and potentially dangerous. (the old toss them in over their heads that they'll learn approach).

We did ISR with both of our kids and I highly recommend it. My wife and I can remember back to a time when our very young children were fearful of the water but the kids certainly can't. As far as they know, they've been swimming since the day they were born.

With ISR I think a lot depends on the particular instructor. Ours was great – did the lessons right out of her pool at home, and for our youngest kid I even bartered and gave her kids free guitar lessons in return for free swimming lessons.

I met this instructor at a babies-r-us event and I really like her. She must have explained things to be 400 times so she's definitely got patience! Thanks for the nod. I got a ton of ref's, but it's nice to get one from someone independent. They are expensive, but well worth it for my piece of mind. Thanks!

Wow, this is sort of strange for me. I'll have to read up on it.

We did YMCA with the kids first and were underimpressed with their progress. Did ISR after that and it was amazing how well they took to the water from then on.

Steff, what birthday party did you decide on and how did it go?

Doing it at the Children's Museum. Her birthday is next month so I'll let you know how it goes after it goes. :-)

Sounds like craziness to me. But then again so does any kids birthday party. Why did I have to have so many? :crying

It sounds like fun because we're guys and would be relegated to the back of the room with the other dads and really have nothing to do but whip out the debit card.
